How long do the effects of a mini lift last? 59 y/o concerned about worsening jowls (photo)

Question

Hello! I am a 59 yr old woman with worsening jowls. Last year I had Accutite/morpheus with absolutely no improvement (staff concurred). I have scheduled a mini facelift but was astonished to hear from the surgeon that the effects are unlikely to last beyond 2 yrs ("maybe three"). Everything I have read here indicates a longer duration of 5-10 years. Can I please have some feedback about what is a reasonable expectation?

The duration of any facelift, mini or not, depends on a number of technical factors in how the procedure is performed. That being said, I would expect much more than 2-3 years of improvement out of a mini facelift if it's being done on the correct patient. I think where a "mini" procedure is disappointing is when it is performed on an inappropriate patient, who actually would benefit from a more extensive procedure.

Based on the photos, I would suggest a deep plane facelift with platysmaplasty. Although it's very common for people to get caught up in terminology, the best procedure would be to tighten your neck, jawline and cheeks in a natural fashion: deep plane facelift.

Based on the photos, your most ideal procedure would be to have a deep plane facelift with necklift together. This procedure will give you a better and longer lasting result (10 years or more). A mini facelift can be done with a nice improvement in the jawline, but not the neck. If performed properly you can still get 5 years or more out of it. Be sure to see a facial specialist for consultation.

In your age and with very mild signs of  aging, patient should expect duration of 10-12 years, if not longer. Based on this photo, you would achieve the best and longest lasting result with a SMAS based lower face/neck lift.
