I have labiaplasty and BBL booked in March, it will also be combined with fat transfer to the labia majora. I am particularly nervous about the BBL due to the risks, however my doctor is using ultrasound... My only concern is: they let me know they have a gynecologist on site who will perform the labiaplasty while I'm already under for the BBL.. Is this safe? Is it ok to combine the 2, or is swelling going to be worse? I'll have a crotchless faja, but I am nervous about the risks of combining.
Answer: Labiaplasty and BBL at same time I do not recommend them being performed at the same time if significant liposuction is going to be performed in your abdomen. The fluid and blood from the liposuction can descend into your labia and genitals causing marked swelling that can interfere with the healing and final result from your labiaplasty. In addition, I caution about getting any gynecologist to do a labiaplasty as many are not trained to do it, which can result in a severely botched labiaplasty. I invented the central wedge labiaplasty surgery in 1995 and only reported the seminal article in the plastic surgery literature in 2007. It is also known as the "V" or wedge technique. Gynecologists and most plastic surgeons perform a labiaplasty very differently. They essentially turn the labia minora (inner vaginal lips) and leave a long suture line instead of the normal labial edge. Their technique is the same whether a scalpel or a laser is used. In contrast, I remove triangles of tissue and bring the normal edges together. Thus, the normal labial edges, normal color, and normal anatomy are preserved, but the darkest labial tissue is usually removed. If you have extra tissue on your clitoral hood, I can reduce it at the same time. My technique is performed with magnification to ensure an accurate approximation of the normal labial edges, whereas the other technique takes 15-30 minutes and results in a linear scar as the labial edge. That scar can cause chronic discomfort and aesthetic disfigurement. Your clitoral hood may also be reduced at the same time. Above all, choose an experienced surgeon as over half of my surgeries are for reconstructing women who have been botched by other doctors. Answer: Safety isn't the issue with your plan to combine labiaplasty and BBL. Here's the real danger... From your story, it seems that you've taken the time to select a surgeon to do your BBL. Presumably because you've seen their work and are pleased with what you've seen. However, it seems that your labia majora fat injections are being outsourced to a total stranger whom you've never met and will likely never meet since you'll be asleep. How do you know that the "gynecologist on site" is any good at delivering quality results if you've never seen their work? If I were you, I would make sure that you take the same care in selecting your labiaplasty surgeon as you do in selecting your BBL surgeon. Otherwise, you might be in for a rude awakening. No pun intended. From someone with over two decades of experience with both of these procedures, I can tell you that doing the combo is perfectly safe and it delivers great results so long as the surgeon has the expertise in both procedures. If not, they should be done separately.

Answer: Doing labiaplasty and BBL at the same time Thank you for your questionI would be very suspicious of a facility that is suggesting doing these procedures together. I would suggest you investigate the"on site" gynecologist . You need to do your homework and investigate all your surgeons looking at their before and after photos and their reviews. Many surgeons are doing labiaplasty who are poorly trained and the results can be disastrous. Look at all the questions on RealSelf of botched surgeries seeking help. See the video below to start to learn about labiaplasty.FINAL ANSWER--DON'T DO IT

Answer: Combining procedures with labiaplasty I encourage you to have the procedures performed separately. The swelling may be impacted by having these performed together. In addition the labiaplasty, though performed in a sterile environment, could contribute to infection. Once healed from your BBL you may be able to have the labiaplasty under local anesthesia depending on your surgeon's evaluation.
