My PCP won’t fill out my medical clearance forms. What can I do?

Hello I have surgery scheduled for 2/20/19. Unfortunately I was changed to a new dr who I have never seen before and she is not willing to fill out my medical clearance forms. Are there any suggestions or alternative routes to take? I am an out of state patient and have already paid a down payment plus flights and accommodation to have surgery next month. In the mean time I am tying to get an appointment with my previous Dr. but there is no guarantee

Thanks for your inquiry,  sorry for your circumstance,  I know you could be seen at an Urgent Care Center and try to get the work-up,  I have no idea if it is covered by your insurance, good luck.

Thank you for you're question. You're best option is to go back to yore original PCP provider so that you can get the clearance you need. Since your surgery is only a few weeks out you're second option is getting clearance from and urgent care clinic to get the clearance you need.

The ideal clearance letter comes from a doctor who knows your history well.  Going to someone who has never seen you before may be better than having no clearance letter at all, but having the input of someone who is well aware of the problems you face is much more valuable in the long run.

It is best if you can reach your prior PCP and have the needed forms completed.  If not, you may want to speak with PCP regarding your situation and see if there is a colleague who could see you instead.  An urgent care clinic may be an alternative as well.

medical clearance is important prior to cosmetic surgery. If you can’t get an appointment try a walk in clinic, or call the pcp’s Office and ask to speak to the medical assistant, then explain your situation.
