Osteotomy to narrow dorsum, what happens?

Hi, so I was told that an osteotomy would help narrow my dorsum. However, I tried to read into it and only found out that it’s „cutting bones and repositioning them“, in my case: folding them inward? My question: if it gets folded inward, how does it still connect to the bones of the rest of my face? Because right now it feels like it’s connected to my cheek bones. Wouldn’t there be gap between nasal bone and cheek bones if this were to be done or am I mistaken? Many thanks in advance!
