Hello I am looking into Asian rib rhinoplasty. I would like to know if I was to get the procedure and there was an infection after the rib Asian rhinoplasty what would be my options? Would the doctor take it off and how would they redo the revision? And how long are they able to do something about it if an infection was to occur after the Asian rib rhinoplasty. I’m 40 and was shopping around. But I’m scared of any infections after my rib has been transferred to my nose.
Answer: Asian rhinoplasty A rhinoplasty specialist will be able to comprehensively address the issues you have with your nose. DCF (Diced cartilage fascia) provides permanent results without the risk of warping or resorption of en bloc rib cartilage, and with a much lower rate of migration, infection, or extrusion than synthetic grafts. With a rhinoplasty surgeon experienced in this technique, diced cartilage wrapped in fascia is a consistent, reliable, long-lasting technique for creating dorsal augmentation with excellent results. Results are very surgeon dependent, so choosing the right surgeon is important. Consult with 2-3 of these surgeons in person and determine your comfort level with their approach, demeanor, and before and after results. Good luck! @asianrhinoplasty @drdonyoo

Answer: Rib Rhinoplasty Hi there! If you were to get an infection after placement of your own rib cartilage, the initial treatment would be local wound care, drainage, and antibiotics. If the infection progressed to cartilage loss or non-resolution, the material would need to be removed. In order to ensure that the field has fully healed, I would advise waiting at minimum 2-3 months after a major infection before proceeding with replacement. Your own rib has the lowest infection rate when compared to donor rib. I would advise against silicone or GoreTex in the nose. Hope this helps.

Answer: Asian rhinoplasty Personally I don’t do Asian bridge augmentation because I don’t think people look very good when it’s is done. Infection is a minor risk. You might or prefer diced rib cartilage as a better way to contour a dorsal graft

Answer: Rib grafting Cartilage from rib grafting does not have a high incidence of infection since it is autologous tissue and incorporates readily into the nose as long as there is sufficient soft tissue cover. It is much safer than Goretex or other synthetic grafts. Another option is fresh frozen cadaveric rib graft that avoids the need for a harvest procedure.
