Hi, I had breast implants 5 months ago and I had 400 cc mentor implants in both. My left one is bigger and lower than the right. Is this normal?
Answer: Revision Asymmetry after breast augmentation is common. However, you have not shown us your pre-operative photographs. You would benefit from a revision with placement of a smaller implant in the bigger breast. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: BA results Dear adinaoana, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Implants Your right implant is still sitting higher than your left. if you were even before surgery, you have the right size in both. Go back to your surgeon to discuss oral Accolate and external ultrasound treatments to try and soften the pocket to let the implant settle down better. Otherwise, it will require surgery.

Answer: Early breast augmentation results Dear adinaoana, You have a nice early post breast augmentation result. The operative word there is "early." It will be at least 6 months, and possibly even 9 or 10, before your breast implants have settled into place and your skin stretches and relaxes. So, the right breast implant may descend lower in a few months. Also, we don't have pre-operative photos with which to compare the pre-existing sizes and symmetries. Good luck!

Answer: Breast augmentation outcome Breast augmentation outcomes are based on three variables. The first is the patient’s candidacy for the procedure. The second is the selection of implants in regards to size shape and type. The third variable is the surgeons ability to put the implants in the correct anatomic location. To make an assessment regarding the outcome of any plastic surgery procedure we need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures and ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took. Seeing what you look like before hand, we can’t assess your candidacy for the procedure. From the pictures you’ve included, I would say that the issues related to your outcome based on your candidacy for the procedure. Most patient have the left breast sitting higher on the chest than the right side. The position of the breast is based on the position of the IMF (infra mammary fold) You have a higher degree of breast ptosis and the breast divergence on the left side, and this was most likely evident on your before pictures. This is the main reason why your breast looked the way they do. The degree of a symmetry was most likely present before the operation. The implant placement is textbook perfect and I see no indication for doing a revision. Anytime excessively large implants are used the chance of undesirable side effects, complications and need for revision surgery goes up. Bigger implants amplified divergence because of the projection. Divergence is amplified and put on display with the projection of the Breast implants. You’re tolerating the current size of implants, but I would definitely not go larger. Doing so is going to invite problems with need for more surgery. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
