Hi @ggsanaz. This is an excellent question! Yes, a lip lift may be performed under local anesthesia. Best of luck,Dr. Nima
Many lip lifts are done under local anesthesia. Although the numbing portion of the process will be slightly uncomfortable, it is easy to complete without sedation.
Normally, I do all of my upper lip lifts under local anesthesia unless the procedure is being done in conjunction with other procedures that require a higher level of anesthesia. The procedure can be done with a dental block to make the upper lip area numb and it is a relatively short procedure so that you should not feel anything else once the area is anesthetized.
Hello ggsanaz,Yes, a lip lift can be done under local anesthesia. This is very commonly done in my practice. Choosing the right patient to do it on is paramount. There are a couple injections to numb the upper lip and the procedure takes an hour to do. I am happy to see you in consultation. I hope this helps. All the best,Dr. Sanan, MDAkshay Sanan MD Facial Plastic SurgeryLos Angeles, CA

A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. The lip lift should not pull the nose down and should not widen it. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
Hello, hope you are well. First of all, it may be helpful to know that a 'gummy' smile is rarely exaggerated by lip lift surgery. Based on your measurement, and the second photo you provided (in repose), you do appear to have sufficient length to consider a lip lift. Whereas in older patients...
