Can I schedule a surgery late in the day?

This would be completely up to what you work out with your surgeon. In my practice, and many others, we try to accommodate patient's schedules and will often be able to offer a straightforward breast augmentation a late day time slot.

Hi StephanieMost surgeons will try to accommodate patients when scheduling procedures. A 3 PM start is not unreasonable but after including the time for the operation and the recovery time in the facility this may result in your not leaving until early evening. Best of  luck on your surgery. 

Yes, my office and most plastic surgeon's offices will work with you to accommodate your schedule as best as possible.  The days that surgery is offered may be your limiting factor, but even that can be adjusted.  As far as how long the surgery lasts, I'm not sure if you are asking how long the surgery takes or when you would have to have the surgery redone, so I'll answer both.  The surgery generally takes about an hour and there is no set time in which you have to have the surgery redone, but on average, the shell of an implant, which is what will eventually break, lasts approximately 10-15 years.  They are not lifetime devices.  You should consult with a plastic surgeon to get your questions answered in more detail.  Best of luck!

doesn't have anymore risks in my opinion so if that is what works for you, go for it.  Any ethical surgeon will not schedule procedures if they are not at their best as that is what our patients demand when they pay our fees.  And if you do schedule this, ask your surgeon about possibly having breakfast or liquids prior to your procedure as I am quite liberal with allowing patients some latitude with this 'restriction'.

Thank you for your question. Yes, the BA surgery can be done in the afternoon, and it usually lasts about an hour or so. The pre-op and post op recovery can last a bit longer though. It is best to discuss with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon his/her
specific recommendations as far as return to activity. The recovery after BA
surgery varies widely from patient to patient as well as their level
of discomfort during this time. Generally, the first 4-7 days are reserved
for rest and overall recovery, and after that patients can slowly work their
way back with gradual low risk activities. I prefer to wait at
least 6-8 weeks for repetitive upper body lifting/movements and arm use so
that the muscles, skin incisions and breast tissues have had adequate
time to heal and settle before being stressed. The recovery routine will
best be determined by your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon so be sure to touch

Many surgeons will be able to book you as an afternoon procedure.The surgery lasts about an hour or so.The set up and recovery makes it longer.

It is certainly possible to have a surgery at 3pm although you may need to come in 1 hour before what ever time the surgery is scheduled. 

Each office will have its own schedule, but it is very common in our office to start shorter cases, such as breast augmentation, late in the day. The actual surgery takes about an hour but you are in the OR about 1 1/2 hours due to anesthesia and skin prep time.
