I have anxiety about removing my surgical bra. Should I?

Hello,Thank you for your question. It is true that in the days immediately post op, your chest area is swollen and this can make the bra tight- potentially a bit uncomfortable to get back on. I recommend that you go slow. Try not to worry that your implants will rotate in the short time that your bra is off. If you want some advice about an alternate bra you could wear if the one you have becomes too tight, contact your Plastic Surgeon's office. I'm sure they could offer alternative suggestions and reassurance.All the best

Thank you for your question.  Immediately after surgery there are a lot of possible things to worry about and it can be a stressful time.  One of these is when/if to take off your bra and what to do afterwards.If your plastic surgeon said it would be ok to take off your bra to shower, then I think that he/she is right.  Putting it back on after surgery may be a little difficult due to swelling and some discomfort but it should be manageable.  It's unlikely that your anatomic implants would rotate from taking off/putting on your bra so I think you're safe there.  Your anxiety is definitely reasonable but I think that if you follow your surgeon's instructions you should be just fine.  And if for some reason you run into any issues, don't hesitate to contact your surgeon so he can help you take care of the problem.Good luck in your healing process,Dr. Seth
