Answer: When does the hair fall out of my new grafts What you are experiencing is completely normal. Hair will fall out of the grafts beginning the second and third week. Following the transplant, most of the hair will cease to grow. Only a few grafts will continue growing immediately after a procedure. Only rarely does a great deal of hair continue growing following a procedure. The non-growing hair will begin to shed. You actually want he non-growing hair to shed. If the non-growing hair is retained, this will eventually lead to pimple and cyst formation. You don't really want this to happen. Thus, do your best to remove any non-growing hair follicles. The non-growing hair follicles come out easily. Usually the hair will grow back beginning the third month. About 10% of the hair will resume growth each month thereafter. We find with our sonicated PRP or cytokine rich plasma injections that regrowth is 99% at 4.5 months, however. The CRP must be injected during the procedure or soon after a procedure to get this benefit. Our growth factor concentrations are 6 to 8 times higher than standard activated PRP.

Answer: Losing grafts after hair transplant The shedding of the transplanted grafts after a hair transplant is normal and expected. You are not losing the transplanted hair follicles but rather shedding the graft with the surrounding skin. If you are concerned, it is best to be seen by your surgeon. The grafts typically enter into a quiescent state for 4 to 6 months before regrowing the transplanted hair.

Answer: Shedding Post-Op This appears to be normal post-op shedding. Your physician should of informed you that the tissue goes into a dormant cycle around 2 weeks post-op, and the permanent growth does not begin until around the third month post-op. As long as there has been no bleeding, no harm has been done.
