Can I lift my 25 lb toddler shortly after rhinoplasty?

Question

My husband will be able to stay at home to take care of my toddler the day of and 1 day after my rhinoplasty surgery. After that, it will be just me taking care of my son. (I do not wish to have other people help out, because I would like my surgery to remain private). Would this be a problem or pose any risks? Btw, I am a fit person who regularly strength trains, so my son may feel lighter to me than other people.

Hello and thank you for your question.  The
best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  It is normally okay to gently lift an infant several days after rhinoplasty.   Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most
important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend
that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who
can evaluate you in person.

It is important to keep your head above your heart for the first month after you have had surgery. I recommend, anytime you need to bend over, you do so with your knees. Keeping your head elevated will help minimize swelling. Also, keep in mind that it is important to keep your nose safe from sustaining injuries, as your nose will be most sensitive 1 month after surgery. I advise you consult with your surgeon, and discuss any concerns you may have.

While it may be possible to lift your toddler soon after surgery, you need to be careful he does not accidentally injure you while you are healing. Consult with your surgeon for more guidance as he/she knows the scope of the surgery and the specifics about you.

It is probably acceptable to  lift your toddler the first few days after a rhinoplasty procedure. It's also important to prevent any head-butting or the child tearing off the cast on the nose. Also important to not exert yourself for two weeks after the surgery to prevent a nosebleed
