Should food taste disgusting 5 days after septorhinoplasty?

Question

When I first woke up from surgery I ate some cookies, sandwiches and had lots of tea which tasted a little duller than usual but not so bad. Now five days after surgery I can't eat anything because it all tastes really gone off and putrid to the point where it makes me gag to eat. I can't even go into my kitchen because the faintest smell of food smells so evil it makes me feel sick. I know dull taste must be normal but everything smells and tastes so, so bad. What do I do? :(

Hello,I am sorry about this. Food usually does taste different after a rhinoplasty due to the lack of smell. Smell has a very direct influence on how food tastes, and when people are bandaged or have scars it inhibits how much they taste. Thank you for your query.In some patients, soon after rhinoplasty, they may complain of an ulteration in the sense of taste. This usually improves with the passage of time. As such, Iwould expect this sensation to improve in the next few days.Kind regards.
