I had ba 4 months ago then I had to go back and have corrective scar surgery & implants taken out & pockets cleaned now 5 & a half weeks I've had nothing but problems had a caliform infection. Redness & fluid near the scar,ive been on iv antibiotics & oral antibiotics for the last 6 weeks & it's started leaking again a light yellow /brown sticky fluid & I've got a bad cold? I'm still on oral antibiotics. Is it possible to get another infection? Are black scabs normal too on scar?

Thank you for your pictures. I think it's imperative that you revisit this with your plastic surgeon. You certainly can have another infection. You may be best served by having the implant removed and treated with antibiotics  and revisiting potential reaugmentation three months later.

It is not normal to have fluid leaking from the wounds.  This is an implant contamination/infection until proven otherwise.  In fact, you may not have a cold, you may be sick from your implant infection.  You should be seen by the plastic surgeon immediately.  Typically the implants need to come out and stay out for months before they can be put back in.

At 5 weeks after surgery, it's not normal to have black scabs or leaking fluid. In my opinion, this is infection until proven otherwise.  Please call your plastic surgeon and ask to be seen as soon as possible. You may need the implant to be removed for a few months for the infection to actually resolve. A small pinhole leak as you describe may or may not be a serious problem. Depending on how the wound was closed, it could be a simple suture that is causing some irritation while it is dissolving. This is generally a very superficial problem and can be resolved by removing the suture. On the other hand , based on your history of a previous infection, it could be a recurrent infection, and this is a more serious situation. Be sure to have your plastic surgeon evaluate the problem as soon as possible.

It is definitely not normal to have fluid or black scabs at 6 weeks. It is almost definitely infected. The black scabs are probably dead necrotic tissue along the closure line. A physical exam will answer the question definitively. You should see your plastic surgeon immediately. You will probably need the implants removed for 3-4 months before considering re-augmentation and possibly even longer given your history. When the implants are removed, cultures should be done deep in the pocket to try and delineate what infection you have so post operative antibiotics can be chosen most accurately. I am sorry you have had so many issues with your procedure. Good luck in your recovery.

I am very sorry to hear what you have been through. Fluid leaking from a breast augmentation incision could indicate an opening in the skin which communicates with the implant inside.Please see your surgeon immediately for a diagnosis. Based on your history, if the implant is exposed to the outside you may need to have the implant removed and allow the tiddues to heal for 6 months before replacing the implant.
