Question

Took my cast off today and I’m devastated. Surgeon told me in experiencing asymmetrical inflammation because one nostril needed more graft work. I went to one of the best surgeons in NYC but I’m a complete emotional wreck and unhappy with how it looks. My nose looks too high, the tip looks too pointy and my nostrils are very asymmetrical. It looks very unnatural and uneven. Will my nose drop? Am I being impatient? Or did I get a botched nose job?

Hi, thank you for your question. It is very difficult to know exactly what final shape your nose will take. The fact is that rhinoplasties take longer than almost any other procedure for swelling to resolve and for the final result to become apparent. Try to hold out for 6 months to a year before you reach a final conclusion. I can only imagine how frustrating that answer is, but unfortunately you really just can't get a great idea of how it will look until then.

There is a lot of post operative swelling at this time, and it is impossible to predict the final outcome at this stage. Based on your photographs, your nose looks fine for immediate post operative period, especially for a revision rhinoplasty. Please be patient and discuss your concerns with your Plastic Surgeon.  All The Best !
