How many rhinoplasty surgeries is a normal amount for a specialist to do in one day?

Surgeons use so many different techniques that it is difficult to make general statements about a surgeon's volume.  In doing open rhinoplasty where multiple techniques may be utilized to obtain desired results, I spend about 3 hours.  I generally prefer not to perform more than two rhinoplasties in a day because of the detailed and precise nature of the surgery

 Rather than worrying about  how many rhinoplasty  procedures can be done in one day, better look at how many are done by the surgeon in one month, or a one year period of time to get an idea of how busy the rhinoplasty surgeon really is. It is  important shop quality and get it  done right the first time.

I think this is difficult to say depending on the technique of the surgeon and the types of rhinoplasty operations we are talking about.  In general, a primary rhinoplasty done with an endonasal (closed) technique takes less time then one that is done open.  And Secondary Rhinoplasty takes much longer than primary rhinoplasty.  So on a given day, a surgeon may operate as many as four or five noses, but I tend to stay in the two to three range because most are complex and done open.   A surgeon doing five or six or seven may have technique that is easy and repeatable.  This is where that cookie-cutter look MAY be a factor.

Each rhinoplasty procedure takes a different amount of time depending on what is needed.  Most rhinoplasty procedures take 1-3 hrs to perform properly, at least that's what it takes in my hands.  Some cases, requiring more work such as using rib cartilage may take up to 4 hrs.All the best,Dr Remus Repta

A busy rhinoplastic surgeon may not do a rhinoplasty every day. Many surgeons operate 3 or 4 days a week leaving 2 days for office hours.At my busiest times, I limit the number to 3 rhinoplasties per day. Fatigue can set in, for some of us, if we do more. Fatigue will cause error in judgment and coordination.
