Thanks for your question. This is a question that weget asked often by our patients. The most common SIDE-EFFECTS of toxininjections include: Swelling, Redness, and Bruising at the site of injection. Complicationsare rare and only temporary, but may include paralysis of other nearbymuscles, temporary eyelid ptosis (dropping of eyelids, 2% risk, lasts 2-3weeks), temporary brow ptosis (dropping of eyebrows, 2% risk, lasts 2-3 weeks),cross-eyes, ectropion or edema of the lower eyelid, dry eyes, double vision, transient headaches (10%), local numbness (lasting 2-3 weeks), flu-likesymptoms, rash at the injection site, pain at the injection site, infections, and bruising (need to avoid blood thinning medications). Cold compressesmay be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling only if needed. Thismay be applied for 3 minutes, 3 times per day, for up to 3 days. This is bestdone with a bag of peas in a zip lock bag. Only apply light pressure to thearea. Only take Tylenol if you get a headache or migraine.
Some patients do experience mild redness or swelling in the areas treated by Botox or fillers such as Restylane. These symptoms should resolve within 1-2 days. I always tell patients to contact their physician if they are concerned about side effects. The physician who performed the procedure will want to know if you have prolonged swelling.
It is fairly normal to have mild redness, swelling, and soreness at the site of injections, especially if done recently. If it doesn't go away by 48 hours, give your injector a call and have an in-person evaluation just to be sure.
Thank you for your question and photo. Sometimes there can be some redness and bruising after Botox and dermal filler injections. This will usually resolve after a short time. If not, it is best to follow up with your injector and discuss your concerns.Benjamin J. Cousins MDBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon
Hello Soreface,It is expected to have swelling for a few days after receiving fillers. It is also normal to have a little redness at the sites where the needles were injected with both the Botox and fillers. This is more common in fair skin individuals. The redness should disappear within 24-48 hours. If not, and if the soreness is worsening, this could be the sign of an infection. If you have a concern or if things are feeling worse rather than better you should follow up with your injector for an evaluation. I hope this helps and good luck.
Thank you for your question. No, crying will not affect your Botox injections. Once Botox is injected nothing will affect it. Best of Luck!
Thank you for sharing that interesting question. You should have the blepharoplasty performed without Botox injections. Should the eyebrow fall, then you can have a touch up. As you have suggested, if the eyebrows do not fall, then too much skin will be removed if treated with Botox first. This...
Low dose amitriptyline (10 mg) should not affect the results from Botox injection.Botox works locally and you will probably feel better when you look better.
