Is it OK to have dental treatment after botox injections for frown lines? Also after dermal filler for Iip lines?
Answer: Botox / Filler and dental procedures Botox should not be performed around the mouth on the day of and shortly after dental procedures. Swelling and trauma to the areas could effect results negatively. Similarly, filler should not be done just prior to in the few days after dental procedures depending on the extent of the swelling present. Wait for all swelling to reduce before considering filler to the lips. Botox away from the mouth should not be affected by dental work.

Answer: Botox and filler after dentist appointment Hi cinzia1, it depends on the degree of dental treatment that you are getting. If you are going in for a simple cleaning, you can have the Botox and filler any time. If you have an infection or are getting more significant dental work done, you should consider waiting 1-2 weeks before having Botox or fillers.

Answer: Dental treatments should wait at least 2 weeks after filler I tell my patients to wait 2 weeks after getting fillers to have any dental procedure. Also, it a lot of dental work is planned, wait til after completion to get filler. This is because there is bacteria in the bloodstream during dental work and it could seed the filler (get it infected). There is increased blood supply initially, so that is why waiting is better. It doesn't matter with Botox as long as it's done 4 hours after treatment.

Answer: Botox, fillers, and dental treatment... Thank you for your question. I am assuming you are asking about doing these all at the same time? I would advise against that. First of all Botox and Fillers should be performed by a board certified Dermatologist not a Dentist. Secondly, Botox would need to be performed after the dental treatment because if you had Botox and then the Dentist reclined you it could affect the spread of the Botox. Regards, Dr. Matt Elias
