One day post tummy tuck and breast lift / augmentation . I have blood on my binder from one of my drain sites , I don't see my doctor until tomorrow though. It's so gross but I was told I should keep it on until I see him tomorrow morning , is it okay to take it off to wash it for a few hours ?
Answer: Abdominal Binder after Tummy Tuck Thanks so much for your question! For my patients, I like them to wear their binder 24/7 until their first visit. It provides them support and also helps with swelling. I would call your surgeon to see what he/she prefers. Hope this helps...best of luck! Sincerely, Joyce C. Chen, MD, MPH, FACS

Answer: Is it okay to take off my binder 1 day post-op to wash? Always best to want these types of concerns/questions directly by your plastic surgeon ( keep in mind the practices will vary and that the advice you receive online may not be consistent with what your plastic surgeon prefers). Given that your instructions were to keep it on until follow,up I would suggest that you do so. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.

Answer: Is it okay to take off my binder 1 day post-op to wash? Generally speaking - yes. However, you should consider purchasing a second binder so you can wear something for support at all times. Ask your surgeon if you can get a second binder.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO :)

Answer: Abdominal Binder I would either call your plastic surgeon to see if he could fit you in earlier to help change your dressing or wait it out until you see them. The dressings after an abdominoplasty may be difficult to put back on yourself the day after surgery because of the swelling and your limited mobility.

Answer: Is it okay to take off my binder 1 day post-op to wash? Thank you for sharing your question. I would not take it off. You should wait until you see your Plastic Surgeon. The binder is important to keep on at this time to reduce swelling. You will probably be able to switch to a more comfortable type of compression soon, and I recommend purchasing 2 so that you can wash one while you are wearing the other. Always follow your Plastic Surgeon's post-op instructions, as they are the guidelines set in order for you to heal and recover quickly. I hope this was helpful to you. Best Wishes, Dr. B.
