Dear vanessagonzalez004,it is impossible to predict whether you will need nausea medications in your postoperative period. I would suggest you to follow your surgeon's instructions and do not save money on your medicines. Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Although nausea can occur with any post operative patient the anesthesia these days is great as far as prophylactically preventing nausea with medication. That being said some patients do still experience nausea, so you might not want to risk it. Talk to your doctor about alternatives for the medication he wrote for you. If there is a generic form available that is almost always cheaper. Good luck with your procedure!
While nausea after anesthesia used to be fairly common, with current anesthetic techniques very few patients experience nausea (only about 5% in our practice). You will probably be fine, but discuss you concerns with the anesthesiologist. There are inexpensive antiemetic medications available.
Thanks for your question. There are a lot of different choices for anti-nausea medication (many of which are very inexpensive) so I would encourage you to ask the pharmacist for your options. If you have nausea that causes you to vomit you will be miserable and can ruin your result, so yes I would say you should have a few tablets on hand. Phenergan and Zofran are usually inexpensive. Best of luck to you
your insurance may cover nausea medicine and if not and its still expensive maybe just have them prescribe you just 5 pills instead of 25 so that it's not too much money. Some patients hate nausea worse than pain so I would get the nausea medicine if I were you. Good luck! DSR
It certainly is not a must, but if you have a history of nausea or have risk factors for nausea you will be very uncomfortable after surgery, especially if you experience any vomiting. You may want to shop around and see if other pharmacies have a better price. Or, you can ask your surgeon's office to prescribe a different medication. Good luck on your surgery!
Obviously it is entirely your choice which prescriptions you fill. We rarely see postop nausea any more but some patients do get nauseated from pain pills and vomiting after a muscle repair and TT can be very sore. Why not keep the prescription handy and fill it after the surgery if you feel the need?
The suture material for the muscle repair usually is non absorbable, so the suture can hold the tissues long enough while the scar tissue gets strong to hold the muscle in place. In some patients that have had a lot of stretching in the abdominal wall such like a twin pregnancy, the muscles on...

It is normal to have a decreased appetite after tummy tuck and also feeling full sooner than you did before having a tummy tuck. Surgery and anesthesia in itself can decrease your appetite for a week or more. The tightening of the abdominal muscle which is performed during a tummy...
