Should I be concerned about the tissue around my incision becoming hard? I'm 17 days post TT.

Thank you so much for your question!  Yes, it can be normal for the area around your incision to be hard from scar and some fat necrosis.  I would recommend checking in with your own surgeon too.  Hope this helps...best of luck!

That sounds like normal postoperative edema (swelling) and induration around the incision. It also sounds like your drains may be ready to come out. Seventeen days is a long time for drains to remain in place.

Though you didn't provide any photos, it sounds like what you are experiencing is just normal swelling post tummy tuck surgery. Typically, this can maximize at 2 - 3 months then subside over several months - taking up to a year for maximal resolution.You should follow up closely with your surgeon and any concerns that you have - ask him/her.Steven Turkeltaub, MD
