I really want to reduce the vertical length of my nose and was wondering if this is possible and if so whats the limit in terms of shortening? furthermore which techniques are used?

It would be impossible, given your bone structure, to give you a tiny nose, but a small nose would probably not fit your face. Your nose can be made cosmetically more pleasing by rhinoplasty surgery. Occasionally rotating the tip up will give the illusion of a shorter nose. There are many techniques for rhinoplasty surgery, your best option is to choose a surgeon with significant rhinoplasty experience!

David, it certainly appears that rhinoplasty surgery would be beneficial in shortening your nose to achieve a more appropriate length. I would say the 'limits' of shortening are determined by your surrounding facial features. Meaning, the endpoint would be to create a length that is appropriate for your face. It certainly is possible to reduce the length of your nose. It's hard to say how to do this in your case from only seeing you frontal photo. Typically, this involve lifting the tip somewhat as it seems to be down turned. If you also have an over projected nasal tip this can be treated as well.

A long nose can be reduced by different nasal surgery techniques, but 3 dimensional views of the nose are really going to be needed to determine which procedures are best for each patient. Reducing the glabellar height is one way to shorten the top portion of the nose by filing down any high dorsal hump. Releasing the depressor septi muscle on the lower portion of the caudal septum prevents the nose from lengthening upon animation and trimming back the membranous and cartilaginous caudal septum also shortens the nose several millimeters. Cartilaginous tip surgery can also shorten the nose as well.

Aestheically speaking, the nose appears quite long. This is due to an under-rotated nasal tip. I have often used an isolated minimally invasive technique, that does not require a complete Rhinoplasty. This rotates the nasal tip upward making the nose appear shorter. Hope this helps.
