This piece of material has been stuck to my belly button area since my surgery Dec 13 (10 days post) At my last appt, the nurse gently tried to remove with no success so she said I could just work it off in the shower. It hurts to try to pull on it at all. I dont know if it is sewn in there or stuck but it is becoming red and possibly like the beginnings of an infection. I have an appointment on Wednesday but would appreciate some opinions on what may be going on here. Thank you!

Dear lucilj2004,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a TT surgery. However, you are still in the early stages of the healing process at 8 weeks post op.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has ...
This is very common. The skin is severely traumatized in this operation and gets very swollen and is under great tension. Peeling is a result of the skin healing….out with the old and in with the new. It will pass and moisturizer is your friend.
You may want to wait a few weeks after surgery to allow for any irritation to resolve. Avoid the incision and any open areas. Be sure to shave with the growth of the hair versus against. Best wishes.
