10 days post belly button issues (Photo)

This is a very common way to treat the bellybutton postoperatively. It probably won't hurt anything to keep it in a few more days, when your doctor can gently remove it. You should not worry about this.

Thank you for your pictures and questions. The picture shows that you have a special piece of non-stick gauze called xeroform attached to your umbilicus. I also use this as a dressing but I do not suture it into position and it usually comes out very easy. If the area dries, it can stick to the incision and be hard to remove. If there are any concerns, I would just leave it in place and let your surgeon remove it at your visit. There is no harm in leaving it in place for now. Best of luck!

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  Though commonly used in the belly button after a tummy tuck this gauze is rarely sewn in place and should just pull away.  I would discuss with your surgeon as they know the full details of your procedure so that you can have the best advice. 

The material you have attached is called xeroform, an antibacterial dressing commonly used in plastic surgery. It is usually simply placed on top of a wound or scar without being stitched in place. It should fall away by itself or can be softened in the shower for you to lift off. If this does not work then I would recommend for you to return to your plastic surgeon for them to remove for you.

The material stuck to your belly button is an antibacterial gauze called Xeroform.  At 10 days post-op I think you should be fine to remove it.  Assuming you have no drains, the easiest way would be to soak it off in the shower.  If you are not allowed to shower, you could soak the area with sterile water or saline.It looks like you have a nice early result.  Good luck!

can get stuck if the ooze from the edges of your wound stick to the dressing.  Washing it in the shower should saturate it and allow it to easily be pulled on.  A 50:50 solution of water and peroxide will also do the trick.  It is not the cause of any infection but you should take it out if you can.  Was there any particular reason the person who saw you did not get your surgeon to look at it while you were still in their office?

It is an antibiotic impregnated gauze. To loosen it use antibiotic ointment on the dressing. Just cover the whole thing with it for a few minutes and it will soften it up so you can pull it off. Before you pull it you do want to make sure it is not sewn on. I use the same thing and I do not sew it on. I just place it on but if it dries out it sticks like yours. More than likely it just needs to be hydrated and taken off. 

Hreat question. This is called Xeroform gauze. It is petroleum based which means it is supposed to be easy to remove without sticking to the skin. However, this has dried out and is now sticking to the skin. I highly doubt anyone sutured this down. With time the gauze will dislodge. I don’t believe it would be a cause for infection.
