Realistic chin lipo results with low hyoid for 30 year old female? (photo)

It is true that if you do indeed have a low hyoid, your result may be modest from chin (submental) liposuction alone.  However if this is the case there are other surgical maneuvers that can be done at the same time to further improve the result.  Of these, removal of fat deep to the platysma muscle +/- tightening of the muscle may be beneficial.  Also, lengthening the chin with a chin implant can ad to sharpening of the jaw line. I have reviewed your pictures and believe that picture #2 is a definite possibility. The low hyoid does play a part in the overall result, however you are young enough where a small extended chin implant combined with liposuction will help add great definition. If indeed there is subplatysmal fat then this would involve a small neck lift done through the same incision need for the chin implant. All these procedure are reasonable and can be performed safely in your physicians office under local anesthesia with or without sedation. You are correct in stating that your neck skin should "snap back well". Good luck to you!

It looks like you have "photoshopped" gradations of improvement.  I think photo number 2 or 3 is realistic.  Of course, there are many variables including the actual location of the hyoid bone, the amount of the fullness that is fatty tissue and skin elasticity.  Given your description, age and what I can see on the photos, I think your expectations are realistic.   

It is difficult to recommend one procedure over another without a good clinical exam. It is also important to know the degree correction you are willing to accept. There appears to be enough sub-cutaneous fat correction to give you a nice change and this is definitely the least invasive and costly procedure. There are 2 locations of fatty deposits in the neck, and these are sub-mental and sub-platysma fat. Each one is treated differently. Submental fat can be like liposuctioned, but the  presence of subplatysmal fat will require a neck lift. Once subplatysmal fat is removed a platysma-plasty is also performed to give even further definition to the jawline. For maximum jawline definition from the angle of the mandible all the way underneath the chin, a neck lift is required. This does not involve removal of any skin in someone at 30 years of age. Thank you for your question and posting simulated pictures. The results depicted in the second or third picture are likely what you can achieve especially if SmartLipo laser liposuction is used. I prefer this modality in my practice as I believe it improves tightening of the neck in this area especially in younger patients like yourself.

Based on your before photographs I do think laser liposuction of the chin or submental area would improve your double chin.Important question always is how much will the skin tightening after the procedure.  I agree with others that photo to is fairly realistic looking.It is important to understand with a low hyoid even if the skin tightens the profile show the fact that the low hyoid will prevent you from having a 90° angle between the jawline and neck.
