10/20/21 I have been wanting to get a breast augmentation since I was in high school and my breasts never came in like other girls. I have finally decided to pull the trigger on the surgery! I’m very excited but nervous because most of my friends and family have never done any type of cosmetic surgery etc and I don’t want them to judge me for my decision. I actually got my consultation done with Dr. Stephens back in August, he was the 2nd doctor I had seen so even though I left feeling like he was the right doctor for me at that time, I wanted to shop around. I went to 3 more consultations with different doctors after him and felt most aligned with his techniques, philosophies, and recommendations for my surgery. Other doctors made me feel like I had to go with a certain implant type or incision location but Dr. Stephens actually gave me a choice! At my consultation he showed me every type of implant option, I tried a lot of options on and got to see images of what they would look like when finished. The office itself and office staff are all super welcoming and nice. I have decided to wait until September of 2022 for my surgery so won’t be updating this for a while. But I did want to start a review in case anyone is torn about setting up a consultation with him! I definitely recommend it. I will be doing silicone implants via transaxillary incision.
I've always been small chested but after having two children that I breastfed for a year each my small breast turned into deflated breast. I honestly enjoy having small breast but I want them to be fuller which led to me choosing a breast augmentation. Updated on 1 Jun 2021: Updated on 13 Jun 2021: I had my pre op appointment last week. I was hoping to be able to get to try on sizers again since I was very undecided between moderate and moderate plus profile. Unfortunately, even though I was reassured we would have time to do this at this appointment, it did or occur. Nurse Lillian was great at explaining instructions and completing the paperwork with me. Dr. Stephens came in at the end of the appointment and was some what rushed and a bit more gruff than at my consultation. I chalked it up to him having a busy day. I told him I decided on the moderate plus profile and he agreed. He told the nurse 355 will be the smallest size he will use, so I still don’t know the exact size that I will end up with by I don’t want to be very big. I’m active and have young kids, I mainly just want some fullness and to be able to wear a bikini without being completely embarrassed. Surgery is in 15 days. Updated on 24 Jun 2021: Surgery is in 4 days. I’ve never had any type of surgery before so needless to say I am quite nervous. I have 2 young, very active boys and I am already feeling the mom guilt. It’s going to be SO hard for it to pick up y 3 year old and it play baseball with my 6 year old for hours on end like we usually do. I am also concerned about implant size. When I started this journey I knew I didn’t want anything too big. I had 300 Cc in mind and natural (moderate profile). At my consult I tired 355 mod+ which felt much ok big and heavy on me, I felt much more comfortable in the 300 moderate profile sizers. But after reviewing the pictures with my clothes on I liked the way the 355 mod plus looked.... which is what I ultimately chose but I’m wondering if it’s too much for me? I am prone to headaches from pressure on my neck from certain bras and such and I don’t want to make that worse with increased weight on my chest. See? I’m just a mess! Updated on 28 Jun 2021: My check in time was 7 am. The hottest day Ever today in Seattle history, go figure. We stayed at the Marriott directly across from Dr Stephens office. Less than a 1 minute walk over, it was perfect and best of all they had AC! Nurse Lillian met me at the door right in time, reviewed everything again and haven’t husband an estimate on the time I would be ready. We walked to the back, got me changed, took a pregnancy test, took some oral medication to help relax my nerves and waiting for Dr Stephens in the recliner. He came in and we discussed size once more. He marked me for surgery and then it was time for my IV from Dr Brandford my anesthesiologist. He had no issues getting it in. A few moments later I was taken into the OR, laid on the table and situated. Dr Brandford told me to have a good time at the beach and I was out. The ext thing I knew I was waking up in recovery, I felt fine, no nausea, talking was a bit difficult. My husband came in shortly to get me. They reviewed all the post op instructions with him and away we went. Updated on 29 Jun 2021: Today was a good day. I woke up a little sore and tight but nothing terrible. I was able to do a lot more than I had expected but of course I’m still trying to relax as much as possible. This evening my breast started to itch terribly, especially the nipple! It’s driving me crazy. I’m still taking my meds around the clock as directed. Sleep has been rough but I’m managing. Updated on 1 Jul 2021: I have had nothing but positives to say about Dr. Stephens and his staff. They ere all wonderful from start to fish. Dr. Stephens is a master at breast augmentation, he's been doing breast reconstruction and augmentation for over 30 years. His anesthesiologist Dr. Brandford is the best you could have ever hoped for. This was my first ever surgery and the fist time being put out, I was beyond terrified but oddly enough the morning of my surgery I was quite calm. This is due in large part to the fact that I felt so comfortable with the staff and the Doctors. My nurse, Lillian, was great! She was very reassuring and held my hand as I went under. The next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery. My chest felt extremely tight but they assured me that was penal, Dr. B gave me some more pain meds and soon after I was feeling better. I had no nausea at all. I felt pretty much normal after surgery, which is exactly what I'd hoped for. I highly recommend Dr. Stephens and his staff! Updated on 1 Jul 2021: Today is day 4 side my augmentation. I’m not going to lie, yesterday and today I’ve been on a lot more discomfort. Sleeping has been the hardest for me. But I showered yesterday and today and put on a bikini for a minute to see what the girls looks like. I loved what I saw but ow I’m feeling a bit sad because I know from here they will get smaller. I was so worried about going to big that I close a smaller size when I probably should have sized up. Again I chose 325 sientra moderate plus. I’m 5’6” 130-135 lbs my cup size was 38 A prior. Updated on 1 Jul 2021: 4 days post op Updated on 3 Jul 2021: The last few days I’ve had a lot of ups and downs. The hardest part for me is it being able to do simple things like grab a bowl off a high shelf in the kitchen or bring in groceries from the car. Sometimes my pain is barely there and others it is hard to control. I went for a pedicure yesterday which was my first trip out of the house, by the time I got home my pain was 8/10 and I was exhausted. It seems I get easily fatigued but I’m sure that’s normal. I still take my muscles relaxers and Tylenol quite regularly but try not to use the pain meds unless absolutely necessary. I am happy with my results thus far and know they will only continue to improve it’s time. Updated on 7 Jul 2021: I had my first post op appointment yesterday. All is well. I can start massaging now and will continue to wear the band 24/7! Next week I can start working out again with restrictions. All is well. I still have pain and discomfort but it’s manageable. Updated on 15 Jul 2021: I don’t know if I e been completely over doing it or if something is wrong but I’m having a lot of intense pain especially on the right side. So much so that I was in tears last night. Tylenol doesn’t seem to help in the slightest. Also, my lest breast is significantly smaller than the rift. I noticed this right away but tried not to worry too much since it’s so early. I emailed my nurse and she said it’s likely just the healing process so I’m trying not to worry too much but it is very noticeable. I’m trying to do absolutely nothing the next few days in hopes of getting this pain under control. I have an appointment next Tuesday for follow up.
Dr. Stephens and his staff were great throughout my breast augmentation experience. I had been thinking about getting an augmentation for a long time, but had never considered pulling the trigger. I had a friend who did a BA with him and recommended him, so I decided to make a consultation with him and his team. Lori was the patient care coordinator I met with first, she was kind and thorough with explaining the history of what implants Dr. Stephens used, why he uses them, and also any concerns I had with BAs. When I met with Dr. Stephens, he was meticulous and took the time to make sure my questions are answers. I'm an active exerciser, so it made me concerned about being out of commission for a few months. But he and his staff assured me that the healing time is vital and I can ease back into my routine after the time has passed. They utilize a vectra scan and trying on sizers to help give you an idea of what implants to go with. I explained to him what I was looking for, and he went through various sizes and profiles and helped explained to me what would work or doesn't work for my body. I showed him photos of what I was looking for, and he was thorough in explaining what would be possible for my anatomy. He and his staff explain that during the procedure, they have on a range of sizes of implants, based on what we agree would be a possible best fit. Dr. Stephens decides during surgery what would be the best fit. I have to admit that I was a little skeptical that he would choose during the surgery, as I wanted to have full breasts. During the day of surgery, I again showed him some photos of what I was looking for. He explained to me that he will do his best to achieve the results I'd like, but I have to keep in mind that he is going to put in what would fit and look best for my anatomy. The anesthesiologist and nurse that assisted me to the surgery table were kind, easy to talk to, and calming. Now that I'm a few months post-surgery, I'm feeling great and am incredibly happy with my results. My breasts look full, round, and proportional to my body. I feel so much more confident and fill out my clothes so much better. I don't currently have any issues with the implants, and my scar is lightening up over time. I would highly recommend Dr. Stephens and his staff!
He is direct. Answers all you queations and gives his honest opinion. Very down yo earth. I like the fact that he is not trying to convince you in getting something done. He is there to tell you the pros and cons and how he can treat the area. He will give you realistc expectations. Easy to schedule an appointment. All his stuff is great. I highly recommend him and his staff for any procedure.
I had a complex breast revision case. I had trauma to a breast from an assault and had been botched by another surgeon as he attempted to fix that silicone rupture. My chest muscles were cut out and I was literally caved in on one side even with implants in. I was told by other plastic surgeons that I was unfixable and just needed to explant. I felt hopeless, I was in pain from fat necrosis and my breasts were a constant reminder of the trauma. I looked in the mirror and relived that day over and over in my head. Lori, the patient coordinator was wonderful about getting me in quickly and it felt like such an easy process. She was very organized and so friendly. The entire office staff was nurturing and warm. I felt at home in the office. Having PTSD from a violently abusive past relationship I was nervous and very scared to surrender control. Especially to a male doctor, but Dr. Stephens is very against domestic violence and I knew that he was going to keep me very safe. I was surrounded by female staff as well the entire time and I actually felt like I was exactly where I needed to be. The doctor genuinely cares about people. The anesthesiologist put me at ease because he was so experienced and they took extra precautions to make sure that I did not go into surgery afraid or wake up afraid. In fact the last thing that I remember before and after surgery is laughing with the nurses. This was a complex reconstruction case which required time and skill. Dr Stephens used Strattice to rebuild my chest and lift a breast that was completely bottomed out. He had so much experience in reconstruction and it made him the perfect plastic surgeon for this procedure. My full recovery was slower than a regular augmentation because of the amount of surgery that I had done but I was never in intense pain. I was followed very closely after surgery and never felt rushed out. I healed well with no issues. I feel like Dr Stephens office is an extended family now. I greet them with hugs and I am forever grateful that they erased the pain and the visual reminder of that assault. I am able to close that chapter of my life. I am scheduling another surgery with them for a different area of my body. I would not trust anyone else. Dr. Stephens is the best in Washington state. Look no further if you need a skilled surgeon with a great bedside manner and a warm, friendly staff.
Dr. Stephens and his practice are a world class Plastic surgery center in my opinion. I have been to Dr. Stephens several times for consultations, procedures for Cellfina and Fractora over the Cellfina, and follow-up appointments. I couldn’t have been treated better start to finish, no matter the reason I was there, world class customer service and care every single time. I have struggled with a few deep cellulite dimples since age 9. I have never had a weight problem, in fact most would say that I am very thin. I have always been active in sports and physical activity since the age of 5... and now 33 years old. This had no bearing on my genetic predisposition to developing the unwanted and humiliating look of cellulite that my less fit peers seemed to have very minimal, if any at all. I have felt bad about myself and my self esteem in regards to my cellulite for a very long time. I was always insecure to ever be out in a bathing suit, or naked in front of an intimate partner/ bf due to the depth of the pit of my long term dimples. Diet, water, strength training and exercise did nothing for my dimple appearance. The reason behind this is because there are fibrous bands that hold down the skin from within. No matter how thin or fit I was, no cream or exercise could change the dimples on my body. I have spent years moderately obsessed with trying to find ways to eliminate them, or decrease in size or appearance. I tried it all. When I found out about the Cellfina procedure a few years ago I thought, well this is different! It was $2,500 back then, and I thought, “if I’m spending that money, I’m waiting to see how valid it is” I waited to read reviews nation wide on the procedure, as well as watch the percent of patient satisfaction. When the patient satisfaction rate was in the mid to high 95+%, I knew it was worth the risk and money. This procedure cuts the bands, and the bands do not return. How can you beat that? You can’t. My dimples were over 20 years old, and those main 4-5 dimples were what I wanted to see go away more than anything. When I finally got the procedure it was $4,000 (the procedure goes up after years of proven efficacy). Each of my dimples had several bands holding it in. We ended up having to do more than one treatment (Cellfina procedure) to eliminate the deeper divers. Dr. Stephens cared so much about me as a patient and the outcome and my satisfaction he did another treatment on me. He suggested I do fractora over the buttocks area to tighten my thin droopier skin there. I am so glad we did, because it was well worth it. I am extremely uncomfortable standing naked in front of anyone, and Dr. Stephens and every single staff member there made me feel so comfortable it was a one of a kind situation for me. To this day, I would still be able to stand naked in front of any of them, imperfections and all, because they just have a knack for making even the most insecure, secure about themselves. Dr. Stephens is ethical, kind, genuinely caring, and beyond an incredible plastic surgeon, I believe he is a wonderful human being. I used to be a little judgy in people who spent time and money to alter their bodies. After my experience with Cellfina with Dr. Stephen’s, he has completely changed my view on plastic surgery and the goodness and wonderful meaningful work that is actually done with care for so many people. My self esteem is better, I don’t feel superficial at all. I feel grateful that there is a procedure for women that WORKS for cellulite to rid the present dimples permanently by cutting those bands underneath! We deserve this kind of break through, all of those who have struggled with it the way I have, with no answer no matter the effort: we deserve this. I am grateful beyond measure and highly recommend Dr. Stephens in Bellvue to be the Dr. you choose! World class customer service and genuine care of their patients. There is a reason why he has won so many awards as best Plastic Surgeon of the 425 (a highly competitive area code to serve in). See for yourself! I am looking forward to 3-6 months from now when I finally get to see my final results from a long journey of desperately wishing and crying my cellulite away. Feel free to ask me any questions ladies! Remember you deserve it!!
I had a breast lift at 23 and was ready for another at 29 but also wanted more volume. I was a 32DD but didn't have much cleavage or roundness. I researched doctor after doctor and just kept leaving consults with questions unanswered or just an overall concern that the doctors didn't understand what I wanted. I wanted fullness without being huge since I'm athletic. I'm 5'10" and can carry a larger breast but I wanted a natural result. I had doctors trying to give me 500cc implants!!! I decided to have one last consult and went to Dr. Stephens in October 2018. About 5 minutes into our conversation, I knew I'd be going forward with my breast augmentation with him. He told me I wouldn't get the results I was looking for without another lift. I wasn't thrilled about the added expense and dealing with those scars again, but he was very honest and understood what results I wanted. I quickly booked my surgery for December 12, 2018, and we had another appointment to finalize the implant choice and size. I originally wanted the Ideal Implant (saline-filled with silicone baffling) but after feeling it I decided on the very natural feeling Sientra moderate plus silicone implant. I am THRILLED with my results. Having had a breast lift elsewhere at 23, I know that his incisions are perfect and meticulous. They were quite a mess before! I'm now three months out from surgery and my breasts are perfect. I still have a tiny bit of "dropping/fluffing" going on but they look amazing and are exactly what I asked for. If you're in the PNW and want a BA, Dr. Stephens is your guy! Updated on 15 Apr 2019: Ready for summer! Love my breast aug results and wouldn’t change a thing about them!
Dr. Stephens was recommended to me by a friend whose daughter recently had a nose job. She told me that Dr Stephen specialized in rhinoplasty. I lived in Las Vegas for almost 15 years and met a few doctors who specialized in breast augmentation and only did a handful of rhinoplasties a year. I knew I needed a face specialist. Dr. Stephen answered to all of my questions and understood that while I wasn’t happy with the nose I was given, I didn’t want to not look like myself or my family. He didn’t give me a different nose, but gave me one that I should have had in the first place. I look like myself, but better. Dr. Stephens also has a very warm bedside manner. This was something very important to me, because I feel if someone is operating on your face, they should know a little about that face, and not just in a medical sense. He got to know me with out being invasive or intrusive. His demeanor is very calming. Ladies and gents, Dr Stephens is the whole package. He’ll make you even hotter than you already are and make you feel comfortable doing so. I couldn’t be happier to find a doctor and office that I completely trust.
Let me start this review by saying that I'm quite possibly the most neurotic patient any doctor could have: I'm not very trusting, I ask a million questions and then do my own research and return with even more questions. The fact that Dr. Stephens didn't roll his eyes at me or grow frustrated with my constant barrage of input was amazing. He listened carefully, validated my concerns and answered every single question I had with care and respect. I spent a month visiting different surgeons in the Seattle area to decide whether or not I wanted to undergo a lift and implants after breastfeeding 3 children for a total of 7 years. Dr. Stephens was by far the most caring and skilled of them all. Even with the belief that he was the best person for the job, I went in feeling very nervous about what I was about to do. Dr. Stephens and his team were incredibly nurturing and understanding. I never once felt like I was asking too much of them. Even after surgery, I called with a concern and Dr. Stephens went out of his way to come in to the office and see me. I honestly haven't ever met a Doctor like him. My results from my lift and implants are amazing! My body is transformed as is my self confidence. I'm so pleased with how everything went, I've been recommending all my friends to visit Stephens Plastic Surgery - and they all know me and how anxious I am about medical things, so they know he and his team must be special.
I gave birth to two large babies thirty years ago and was unable to rid myself of excess fat and skin in my abdominal area even with diet and exercise. This prevented me from feeling good about myself and when I looked in the mirror all I could see was my terrible stomach. I chose Dr. Stephens to do my tummy tuck because of his reputation and experience. I spoke to several women who had the same procedure with him and I was very impressed with how low their incisions were and how nice their new belly buttons looked. I pulled the trigger and had my tummy tuck in January 2017. I had a wonderful experience! His staff is warm and caring and Dr. Stephens' bed side manner is beyond description. Since I live within an hour of his office he visited me at my home the day after surgery to make sure I was doing alright. This was amazing because I was worried about getting in a car and going to his office the day after my surgery! I am now six month out from my surgery and my stomach looks as good as it did when I was a teenager, not to mention that my belly button is cuter than the one I was born with. I highly recommend Dr. Stephens for a tummy tuck!
Hi Versatile5038; based on your age, you are a perfect candidate for FaceTite; however if you are thin with no facial fat, than FaceTite may not be an optimal treatment for you. However, the Morpheus 8 or Fractora might be the answer. There is also the option of a face lift. We offer all of these options and more and will provide an objective view of which is most suitable for you. We will be soon offering the Accutite, which is specifically designed to tighten skin in the jowls and the mid-facial area in thin patients. We are pleased to discuss this further if you would like a consultation. We are the exclusive practice for these treatments in Seattle using these devices for three years now. Sorry for the late response. Best in 2020!
Hi jess82; I don't think that you need to do orthognathic surgery for you chin unless there are problems with your teeth/jaw occlusion or you have breathing/snoring or sleep apnea problems that requires this surgery. You are correct; that is big surgery with risks of significant complications and a long recovery. However, it is very effective in those patients who have these issues but must be performed by very experienced surgeons with in conjunction with orthodontists. I am less of a fan of the sliding genioplasty as it sometimes fails to provide enough chin projection. There are quite a few options regarding the variety of shapes of chin implants. I have extensive experience in performing implant based, chin augmentation using the "Implantech" facial implants that were designed by many of the best and innovative plastic and facial plastic surgeons in the industry. You can view these on the Internet and we have all of sizers and styles of them in our office that I use with our consultations. I think that there are some that work better for women and others that are better in men and it is important to look at these with you in consultation. Most importantly, we have a "Vectra 3D Imager" that is specifically developed for rhinoplasty and chin augmentation and is a great way to view your potential results. There are also some ways to show this to you in person as well. Interestingly, certain fillers and fat grafting are other less invasive ways to provide chin augmentation without implants as an option as well.
Hi jillsyourfave, There are several non-surgical devices for fat reduction, the most marketed being Coolsculpting. You are correct that each one of these will have their advocates depending on the one purchased by the office. Often these practices use "patient counselors" who have little if any medical knowledge but may be salespeople who offer treatments that may not be indicated for the particular individual's condition. These devices are also sold to physicians and other medical providers, depending on the state, who have little or very elementary knowledge of aesthetics. So I understand your confusion. Simply put, the non surgical devices that remove fat without incisions do so in small increments which may require multiple visits with minimal, but not no, downtime. The other doc's here are offering different liposuction based procedures that require a few small incisions but will get it taken care of in a "one and done" procedure with a reasonably fast recovery and safety. The problem with Coolsculpting is that it will definitely take more than one visit and it is a "stamping" procedure that may leave a shelf between the treated area and the surrounding region. Through the years, I have used traditional liposuction and Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL) that still work very well in straightforward "saddle- bag" fat contouring as they will smooth out the treated saddle bag. when done by skilled surgeons. I also have extensive experience with "Smart Lipo" as well, when there is any risk of loose skin due to skin and subcutaneous laxity. I now use the InMode, "BodyTIte" system that uses radiofrequency (RF) to get superior tightening compared to the other energy based devices. This procedure is done safely and comfortably under mild sedation and local "tumescent" anesthetic with a relatively fast and easy recovery. Regardless of the procedure you decide on, make sure that you are seen by a reputable, "board certified" plastic surgeon with extensive experience in body contouring who examines at you at the consultation and who recommends the best option for you.
HI Scarlett52227; When using surgeon monitored, intravenous, "nurse sedation", the patient is placed in a "conscious" sedated state, where they are awake and responsive but (may or may not) have any memory of the procedure. In order to completely ensure that there is no memory or awareness of a procedure, the patient must be in a deeper anesthetic state using deeper intravenous sedation or a general anesthetic administered by a professional anesthesia provider, either a board-certified anesthesiologist or certified nurse-anesthetist. I would find out what you are having and if it is the former, I would respectfully but firmly request that you have the latter in a certified and fully licensed outpatient surgical facility. I don't mean to cause any more concern than you already have but remember Joan Rivers and insist on this. If your surgeon cannot do this, I would consider another doctor and look further into his or her credentials. The type of surgery you describe is not what the overwhelmingly vast majority of professionals do these days.
Hi ImagineExtrodinary, just a warning; please PLEASE, be very careful of laypeople out there who are doing hotel-room buttock injections; they are very dangerous!! They have resulted in disfiguring, severe life-threatening, deadly infections. These individuals come into an area and do these on unsuspecting women while stating their experience and credentials. They leave the country or they are eventually caught and sent to prison. The injections are of an unknown foreign substance, often industrial grade silicone or a non FDA approved substance that is impossible to completely remove from the tissues. I am aware of an individual who, in at least one instance, did this here in Seattle a few years ago. She recruits unsuspecting (mostly) young women to bring their friends. BEWARE!! To the other doctors comments: Sculptra, a tissue collagen stimulant, is used to enhance the buttocks and also to even out irregularities. It is known to last up to two years or longer in the face but the longevity in the buttocks varies; and it takes quite a few vials, so it is not practical for those other than the very wealthy. While buttock implants are used, they should be placed intra-muscularly. They have a high frequency of complications and can leave an unnatural result, particularly over time. Fat transfer remains the most practical and natural way to enhance the buttock however you state that you are quite thin. BBL can be done safely when the correct technique is used by the subcutaneous placement of fat. There have been a high number of deaths recently with BBL, with a fatality rate of roughly of 1 in 3000 due to the inadvertent injection of fat by piercing the deeper blood vessels within the muscular tissue of the buttocks. It should be done carefully and by experienced plastic surgeons only.As an experienced body contouring surgeon, through the years, I have found that reducing the hip rolls, sometimes the outer thighs and inner thighs, that even in thin women, this and the strategic placement of fat in the buttock can provide some finesse, giving the impression of better shape in the buttock. It will not markedly enhance the size but the proportion and shape is better. After all, like breast augmentation it is not always the size, but the relative proportionate changes that make a nice result. It is important to review the expectations with this though; and over aggressive fat removal can lead to deformities. You didn't include photos so it is hard to advise, generally, in your case. Photos are limited anyway. We provide a thorough personal, individualized consultation and examination to review your specific concerns and expectations. Best, DS
