Question

I underwent FUE transplant, my doctor is suggesting to have a PRP after 10 days of FUE. I wonder if it is safe or advisible? Will it not scar my receipient area again? Or not damage the follicles ?

If your going to have a hair transplant, the safest way to get the PRP is a day before the operation. However it can be done after the operation as well.

Assuming the recipient area has returned to normal appearance there should be no harm in having PRP injected at this point.

PRP has the ability to start a repair process as well as stimulate transplanted hairs. In my opinion, the key factor is how much swelling you have at 10 days. If there is a significant amount of swelling, I would wait for this to return to normal. For this reason, I recommend doing the PRP  2 to 4 weeks prior to hair transplantation and one month after the procedure.

It is best for you to wait until your scalp has recovered from the surgical procedure.  It will usually take 2-3 weeks for your scalp to return to normal, and that will be a good time to start PRP or stem cell treatments.

I typically wait at least a month to allow full healing after the FUE hair transplantation.  Your surgeon may have a different comfort level though.  There are also different injection techniques concerning depth and distribution of the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) in the recipient area.  If your physician feels comfortable with doing PRP 10 days out and this is part of his or her's treatment protocol, then it would be safe to proceed forward with it.  
PRP has growth factors that will help the transplanted hairs to enter into a more normal growth cycle earlier and possibly push the overall healing phase to full terminal growth by a couple of months.  I use it on most of my hair transplantation cases, but do it on the day of the FUE procedure.
