What can be done about this? One year post- aggressive lipo of stomach (Photo)

Thanks for the question, we see this a lot, in north america most patients want results for in and out of clothing, in south america many times they seem to be as aggressive as possible to get the results in clothing. I would consider doing a full tummy tuck to achieve the flattest tightest tummy.  It is likely that this is what you needed at the beginning.  Dr. Greenwald

One of the reason why we -  Board certified Plastic Surgeons here in the US- keep stressing the importance of doing surgery here in the US - is to avoid these situations. Based o your photos- in my opinion- Abdominoplasty is indicated. I suggest that you seek an experienced Board Certified PS for in person evaluation

These surface irregularity is likely from aggressive superficial liposuction resulting in extensive underlying scar tissue. A more even surface can be achieved by breaking down the scar tissue (using liposuction cannula) and a conservative revision liposuction. Although it's difficult to make a best recommendation based on just photos... I think your best option for a flat abdomen is a mini-abdominoplasty.  That would removed a fair about of the loose skin and pull the irregularities much tighter and smoother.  Hope this helps and good luck!  

I would have to examine you in person. It may be related to fat necrosis, fluid or just be contour irregularities from the lipo itself. Again, an exam is essential. If you have had children, sometimes a full tummy tuck is the best solution.

Thank you for your photos.  Fibrosis and irregularities are one of the most common complications after a liposuction.  Aggressive it is not a word I like to use together with liposuction.  This kind of liposuction may lead to problems like this.  Trying to solve this problem is not easy and will required a more invasive solution perhaps a tummy tuck in the future. 

Dear Queensbody,thank you for your question; it's unfortunate that you've experienced this problem.  I agree with Dr. Taranow that breaking up the scar without suction and using smaller cannulas may help.  You may also want to consider a Tummy Tuck; it would help flatten your tummy and allow a redrapng of the abdominal skin and fatty tissue.  Hope this helps & good luck.James Sheridan, MD

Your problem is not an uncommon one resulting from taking too much fat and not leaving an adequate layer of fat to remain smooth.  I have tried autologous fat transfer for deeper dents but the best technique I have found was to go back and feather the area with liposuction cannulas without the suction on.  It breaks up the larger fat lumps and releases some of the bands.  Nothing will cure all of the issues, but this usually softens the lumpy appearance.I have never found a patient who was satisfied with any or the external treatments they attempted.Good luck in whatever you decide.
