The first four pictures I posted are pictures of myself from the selfie angle. The rest of the pictures (besides the last one) are mirror photos. I have a slight preference for the way my face looks from the selfie mode, and it looks undefined, wide, chubby, and disharmonious in long distance shots. My mid face looks flat, too. I posted a picture of my submental fullness. In the last pic, I am sucking in my cheeks a bit and pushing down my jaw to elongate my face. I want permanent solutions, TY!

Answer: Understanding facial aesthetics Each person’s unique facial appearance is primarily based on bone structure. To alter the shape of your face you need to address the fundamental underlying problem. Whether that’s worth doing or not is another story. I suggest having a few in person consultations with oral surgeons in your community or plastic surgeons who’ve done and craniofacial fellowship training. I don’t think soft tissue manipulation is going to get you the results you’re hoping for. Your frontal view shows a moderate amount of facial asymmetry. It looks like you’re occlusion is at an angle possibly because your maxillary is vertically higher on the left side than the right. The right side also seems to have more lateral projection. If you place a popsicle stick between your teeth, you can see if it lines up horizontally with the ground it. If it does not, then this is a clear indication of maxillary asymmetry, which could be addressed surgically if you want to go through that type of procedure. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
