Wondering if I need 3 different “cycles” in one treatment session of CoolMini or if 2 mini hand pieces would work? (photos)

I know it’s hard to tell by photos....but I had a coolsculpting mini consultation. I was told I need 3 applicators in one session....one on each side, then one in the middle to cover the overlap. It seems like most reviews on here with people who appear to have similar neck/double chins as mine just do 2 applicators that overlap in the middle. Just wondering if 3 are actually needed?

Hello and thank you for your questions and for sharing your pictures. First and foremost, it is difficult to assess through pictures. When we assess our parients we look for subcutaneous fat, and where the fat begins and tapers off in the area.  We then determine how many cycles/applicators you will need in a single treatment, with an overlap. We want to avoid leaving any subcutaneous fat out of the treatment area, as that can lead to an unflattering outcome. You may also need multiple treatments to reach your desired results. Hi and thank you for your question! We decide how many cycles at the consultation, which is based on the assessment and measurement using the cool mini template. You definitely want to allow for overlapping of the cycles, so there is not pockets of fat left in between treatment areas. Its hard to say for sure how many cycles without assessing you in person. It does appear you could benefit from treatment not only in the central portion, but also sculpting along/below the jawline, as long as the applicator fits well and there is enough subcutaneous fat there to treat. We also have found that Alastin's Transform Body cream has been not only improving results overall, but also results area showing faster, but skin is tightening and texture is improving, as well. We recommend all of our patients use this with coolsculpting. Best, Dr. Grant Stevens

Thank you for the message! It is a bit difficult to fully assess this over pictures. I would recommend another consultation with a provider in your area if you want a second opinion. Our office typically does 2 CoolMini applicators per treatment however we have done one and three.

Thanks for your question and posting pictures.  Your local provider will be able to give you the best in person advice.  Before you consider CoolMini, try holding an ice pack under your chin for 4 minutes.  Now think about doing it for an hour.  
The FDA recently approved the SculpSure laser for treating submental fat (double chins).  It is a quick 25 minute, completely non-invasive treatment.  In the FDA study, the participants had 100% satisfaction after 1 or 2 treatments.  Because of this, we have discontinued Kybella treatments in our practice for melting submental fat.  In the Kybella FDA studies, there is high satisfaction after an average of 6 treatments.  I did SculpSure recently and it was only mildly uncomfortable.  I had no noticeable swelling.  With Kybella, you will have noticeable swelling for 1-4 weeks.  
The treatment cost for 1 SculpSure Submental is less than the average cost of 1 Kybella treatment.  Best of luck.
