Yesterday i had 1 ml of Restylane and my lips are looking uneven and stiff. Will this resolve itself? (photos)

When dermal filler is injected into the lips it is very common to experience the symptoms you have described.  Swelling, bruising, the appearance of unevenness, and firmness will typically resolve with time.  If after 3 weeks, you continue to experience any of the symptoms you described, I would recommend you schedule a follow up with your injector for assessment of the area and treatment options moving forward.

These services often take a couple of days to settle down.  If this has not quieted down by next week, I would see your doctor about what you are seeing.  Drinking water has no bearing on this service.  I wonder if you have been over treated in the upper lip but it is honestly too early to tell.

Helo Abir.Thank you for sharing your concerns. It looks about right on the photos - meaning right after injection and the next few days - swelling, asymmetry and stiffness is normal. Massage sometimes helps and sometimes it does not - it's better to check with your injector. Periodic cold compress, arnica and head elevation do help.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO :)

Thank you for your question! Lip injections have some "downtime" associated with them and stiffness, bruising, and "uneven" swelling is a part of that process. Try not to panic, and watch the filler as it settles over the next two weeks. If for any reason you have any uneven areas that do not subside, follow up with your injector as you can have additional product added, or the original product reversed. If you are not happy with your injector, consider visiting with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon's office for best practices in safety and efficacy, as well as ideal outcomes. Hi there, Unfortunately, your doctor is correct. It is too soon to tell exactly what is going on with your lips as they are too swollen after the filler. I would recommend that you wait a full two weeks before you make an assessment about your lips, as it may take that long for them to settle down. You may intermittently ice them, but unless you notice some strange color appearing on your lips (like white or blue), try your best to be patient.    Good luck,Dr. Downie

Lips often can get quite swollen after filler is placed.  One has to give it about a week or so for the swelling to go down.

Thank you for your question and for submitting your photos.  The lips are a sensitive area, and are particularly prone to swelling that can last up to 2 weeks after filler injections.  It's difficult to assess what your final results will be until your swelling have fully subsided.  Moreover, it's not uncommon for Restylane to feel hard or stiff immediately after injection - over the course of a few weeks, the Restylane absorbs water and softens, gradually blending into your skin.    
For now, I would suggest gently applying ice or cool compresses to your lips.  I also find that taking over-the-counter antihistamines like Zyrtec or Benadryl can help with swelling after fillers.  If you are still concerned about the appearance of your lips after 2 weeks or so, it would be worthwhile to follow-up with your injector to discuss your concerns.  If necessary, Restylane can easily be dissolved with hyaluronidase.  Best of luck!

There has not been enough time for the filler to settle in and for the lip to get over the trauma of injection so give it at least another 10 days and then if it is uneven see your doctor to even it up

Give it time. It has been a day and restylane swells alot when it is just put in.  I would give it a few days as it will improve and the swelling will go down.  Try not to manipulate or rub it too much as this can increase the swelling.  Hope this helps
