The bruising is still there even though swelling is gone. Is this permanent? (Photo)

I had some restylane injected about a 10 days ago to my bottom lips. No real bruising until about 4 days later..that's why I'm worried. The bruising is still there even though swelling is gone. Is there a point of time when it doesn't go away = permanent?

Bruising can last up to 2-3 weeks if bad, I suggest a vascular laser like yellow laser or vbeam to remove this more quickly.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Hello,For this area, this type of bruising (even delayed) is not unusual.  Being pro-active in avoiding certain things prior to an injection treatment is helpful in reducing the risk or severity of a bruise.  However, a bruise is always a possibility.  Taking Arnica tablets will help resolve the bruise, and this product can be found at any health food store.  In addition, warm compresses this many days out from treatment is also a good option.  Finally, in our practice we offer two types of laser treatments that help fade the bruise much quicker than time alone.  This option can be used even on the lips safely with the right settings.  You may want to ask your injector for options for your bruise.Please see below link for further information.

Hello Bebelocks. Nope. Bruising is not permanent. Next time, avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and other supplements/medications which increase the risks of bruising. Be sure to follow up with your injector at 2 weeks to address your concerns.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO :)

This does not look like "vascular compromise." This looks like a bruise.  These can take time to resolve but they go away.  Hemosiderin staining is improbable.  A bad bruise takes time to resolve.  Hang in there.

Thank you for your question and for submitting your photo.  The lips are a very sensitive area, and are prone to bruising after filler injections - although it is not permanent, it can persist for up to 2-3 weeks.  It may be worthwhile to follow-up with your injector to discuss your concerns, as certain lasers can be used to help bruises fade sooner.  Best of luck!

if it is bruising which is common with lip injections it will go away but apply warm compresses. However, this appears to possibly be vascular compromise and should be checked by your doctor
