Permanent bruising on lips from filler? (Photo)

Question

I had restylane injected about 10 days ago. It was slightly swollen and a little bruised. Now swelling is gone and bruising has gotten worse. Is this permanent? Also, is there some point time (like weeks or months) where bruising is still there = permanent?

Thank you for the question. Bruising on the lips can persist for a few weeks after using injectables. I'd make an appointment with your injector if you have concerns after a few weeks and the bruising has not gone down.

Bruising won't be permanent, but may last for a few weeks after your injections. VBeam treatments can give improvement. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

The lips are quite vascular and subject to bruising.  It is temporary and will resolve.  If they see bruising, I have my patients come in about 48 hrs after their treatment for a pulsed dye laser treatment which helps expedite resolution of the bruising.  This is done at no charge and does well for the bruising.  Best of luck!

Thank you for your question and posting your pictures. The lips are very vascular and when a bruise does occur it can be fairly significant as in your case. It can sometimes take 2-3 weeks for the bruise to resolve. I suggest following up with your provider if you have further concerns.

Thank you for your question and for submitting your photo.  The lips are a very sensitive area, and are prone to bruising after filler injections - although it is not permanent, it can persist for up to 2-3 weeks.  It may be worthwhile to follow-up with your injector to discuss your concerns, as certain lasers can be used to help bruises fade sooner.  Best of luck!

The bruising is not permanent and you should be fine, be patient. Occasionally you will get some bruising that comes after you get home and that can be alarming . If swelling gone, use warm compresses to try to get the bruising to resolve a little sooner .
