Belkyra/Kybella Treatment - Permanent Damage? How can I look how I did before? (photos)

It is not uncommon for some patients to exhibit marked swelling after injections, but most resolve within a reasonable time frame, certainly less than nine months. In my opinion, direct hand suctioning of this area is the most precise and least problematic way of achieving a good result, and is probably what will be necessary to correct the problem. Injection of steroids may be of benefit , but is less precise and could result in thinning of the skin. Consult an experienced surgeon for an evaluation.

We were all so excited to get Kybella a few years ago.  Now I have a drawer full of it that I won't use on any patients because I'm afraid it will ruin my reputation.  Sorry for your experience.I have performed chin liposuction on many patients who were disappointed with their Kybella injections (performed elsewhere).  I think it's your best chance for a nice outcome.  In my hands, I like to use laser energy (Smartlipo) to help break down some of the scar tissue that the Kybella creates.  I find it makes the liposuction more efficient.Good Luck!

you were not a good candidate for fat removal of your chin in the first place.  Your primary problem is a lack of projection of your mandible not excess fat.  This is the primary reason you're not happy with the outcome.  I don't believe the problem is necessary one of prolonged swelling.  That may or may not be an issue but the treatment was never going to give you a great result in the first place.  Your chin does not look excessively swollen in your after pictures.  A chin implant would be a much better solution.  Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
