Is it necessary to have massages after chin lipo ?

Do you need massages after chin lipo ? Beside the post op appointment which includes drainage . Is massages required or by wearing the chin strap is enough to achieve full results ?

It is not necessary to get massages after a chin liposuction. Wearing the wrap at least at night for 4 to 6 weeks is helpful. RegardsDr. J

Every doctor will have a protocol after chin liposuction. Some include massage and others don’t. I don’t recommend regular massages to my patients, other than the post-op appointment. The chin strap is helpful for reducing swelling and promoting healthy blood flow to the area for faster healing. That said, it is best to follow the instructions given by the doctor that performed your procedure, as these instructions were likely provided based on what your doctor has seen work best with other patients.

I do not recommend massages for my patients after liposuction procedures. My patients wear a compression garment around the head for the first few days to a week. There will be some bruising and swelling that will quickly fade. 
Your surgeon may have a different protocol, so best to check with him or her. The only person who can answer your questions realistically is the plastic surgeon who performs your chin lipo.

I normally have my patients just use a compression garment (chin strap) after liposuction under the chin.  Some surgeons may ask patients to massage afterwards as well, but this is not always necessary.  I would recommend following the instructions of your particular surgeon.

This is a question that should be directly addressed by your surgeon. Each surgeon has his/her own post-op protocols. In general, however, lymphatic massage has been used to help with post-op swelling and could ease surgical pain. Consult with your surgeon regarding this concern as he/she will know your condition best.
