Will chin lipo or Kybella make you age worse?

Thank you for your question. Chin lipo and Kybella are both effective treatments for removing submental fat under the chin. These procedures produce a more defined contour between the jawline and neck. They will not accelerate the aging process. However, skin laxity is something that occurs naturally over time, as collagen levels in the dermal structure continue to deplete. You may start to notice some sagging in the lower face and neck in the future due to this process. At that point, there are treatments to address the loose skin, including skin tightening treatments like Ultherapy or ThermiTight. With a proper treatment regimen to address concerns as they arise, you should be able to preserve your fresh, youthful appearance well into the future. 

Both Kybella and liposuction are designed to eliminate submental fat underneath the chin. Kybella works by injecting deoxycholic acid into the area, which destroys the fat cells so they can be eliminated naturally by the body. Liposuction uses a small tube to gently suction the fat out of the treatment area. Liposuction offers full results in a single treatment session, while Kybella typically requires multiple sessions to completely eliminate the unwanted fat. 
Neither of these treatments will exacerbate or accelerate the aging process. Fat under the chin makes one look matronly and older, so it is essentially always rejuvenating to patients when we remove it. However, keep in mind that removing the fat from the area also will not stop aging from occurring. Over time, loss of collagen and gravity will lead to loose, hanging skin in this area. When that occurs, there are other treatments that target skin laxity and firm the skin to produce a more youthful facial profile.
