I had a breast lift in 2020 that u has trouble healing from due to blood flow I was told. I ha a tummy tuck as well and had no trouble with that. I have never smoked and am super healthy. I know it's high risk to revise but I have retained areola in my lollipop scar and the lower pole of my breast has bottomed out. I am looking for a doctor that specializes in revisions that would not do the traditional method of again moving my nipple etc as I have been told that is too risky. Willing to travel

Answer: Y-pattern lift Thank you for your question. Your history of healing issues related to compromised blood flow increases the risk of complications during revision surgery, especially if it involves additional manipulation of the nipple-areolar complex. Surgeons can use sutures, mesh, or dermal grafts to provide extra internal support and prevent future bottoming out. A Y-pattern lift or a tailored approach may help reshape the breast while maintaining blood flow. Your surgeon might reinforce the lower pole and redefine the breast shape without extensive tissue dissection. It is important to consult surgeons specializing in revision breast surgery and have experience managing complex cases involving compromised blood flow.

Answer: Breast revision surgery Revision breast surgery can be complex, especially with prior healing challenges due to blood flow. However, there are specialized techniques that can address issues like retained areola tissue and bottoming out without the need for traditional nipple relocation. Options like internal sutures to reinforce the breast structure or scar revision to address retained areolar tissue can often be performed with minimal risk. In some cases, techniques such as fat grafting or mesh support (internal bra) may also be considered to enhance the overall result without compromising blood supply. I recommend consulting with a surgeon who specializes in breast revision surgeries and has experience managing cases like yours. They can assess your unique situation and recommend a safe and effective plan tailored to your needs. With the right approach, it’s possible to achieve the improvements you’re seeking safely. Answer: Breast lift revision Hello.A mastopexy (breast lift) revision is not necessarily a high risk procedure. Certain risk factors may increase complication rates. Patient factors include active smoking, diabetes, hypertension, obesity and immune disorders. Other considerations that are patient specific include the distance needed to elevate the nipple areolar complex to the appropriate position, breast size and skin quality. Some techniques also have a higher incidence of wound healing complications, particularly those that require significant skin undermining. For best results, I would recommend consulting with a plastic surgeon certified by the American board of Plastic Surgery with extensive experience in revision breast surgery. I hope this helps.
