Hi It's been 7-8 monts since my rhinoplasty. My nose still looks bent/crooked to one side, although it is better than it was post surgery. My surgeon says its difficult to make it better in terms of make it more straight, so he won't consider a revision surgery. What are your thoughts? I think it could look more straight than it is and I would happily do a revision surgery.
Answer: Please consider re-asking you a question with before and after photos. We always advise our patience that the goal of rhinoplasty surgery is improvement of nasal appearance and breathing. We always try to get somebody's nose perfectly straight, however, sometimes we fall short. It's difficult to assess your results with the two small photos that you posted and without knowing what you started with. I hope this is helpful. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Answer: Rhinoplasty I would recommend waiting the full time to heal from the initial surgery. It is difficult to determine the adequacy of this outcome without seeing the prior pictures. If you are not going to follow up with your original surgeon....I would go see a board-certified plastic surgeon (with plastic surgery residency and aesthetic fellowship training) for a consultation.

Answer: Please give me a 2nd opinion of my results after rhinoplasty? Hello @Dkaap, thank you for your question! Generally, you should wait a minimum of one year before considering revision rhinoplasty after undergoing the initial surgery. The healing process can take up to a year, so it's best to be patient and follow all of your doctor’s post-operative instructions in order for the best results. During this time, any swelling that remains from the original surgery should have reduced significantly if not completely disappeared. Once your body has had enough time to heal properly and adjust to the changes made with rhinoplasty, you can consider further treatments or revisions if necessary. Not only is surgical skill important when undergoing revision rhinoplasty but also surgeon experience and training in facial anatomy because these factors play key roles in determining success rates of individual cases. In conclusion, while there isn’t an exact timeline set on when Revision Rhinoplasty may need or be suitable for you specifically - it’s prudent practice for patients seeking such treatment options wait at least 12 months following their initial Rhinoplasty in order get optimal results from their chosen surgeon! In these cases, patience is key! Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS. Answer: Facial asymmetry The human face is a symmetrical on all people. We never make a rhinoplasty assessment without context of the rest of the face. To make an assessment of a plastic surgery procedure we generally need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before, and after Tristan, ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took. It’s also important to understand exactly what was done during your procedure. Rhinoplasty is not an operation but a general term for any procedure that changes the shape of the nose. Straightening, the nose typically requires fracturing the nasal bones and resetting the nose in a different position. It would also be important to know if you’ve had previous nasal injuries or nasal fractures. If you have not had previous nasal fractures, then a septoplasty would probably be required as well. Your question is a bit simplistic and you haven’t provided sufficient information for us to make equality assessment. If you want a second opinion, then you should schedule a second opinion consultation with a plastic surgeon as an in person consultation. For second opinion consultations patient should come prepared with them a complete set of property before and after pictures and a copy of your previous operative report. These are all available from your current provider if you request them. Best, Matt Hagstrom, MD.
