I’m 40 y/o, 5’6 135 lbs, very healthy, but have always had a double chin. I had invisioned greater results. Can I expect it to get better or will I need a revision/neck lift?
Answer: Neck Analysis Hello, hope you are well. Thanks for posting your question and photo, but there is simply not enough information (written or visual) to provide sound advice. What type of procedure did you undergo? What did it look like before? When did it take place? What does your neck look like from the front? Is there loose skin? There may be some room for further improvement in your neck contour, but I would need to feel your neck to see what the underlying structure is like, as well to assess for skin laxity, possible muscle banding, and/or extent of residual fat deposits. An in-person consultation will the best way to determine the appropriate course of action. Best,Dr. Tower

Answer: Revision Neck Surgery Much more information is required to determine whether or not you should have a revision. However, if you are in good health, are motivated to improve your neck angle, and had your previous surgery at least 12 months ago, you may be a candidate for revision surgery. However, a consultation is necessary to fully determine this.

Answer: Do I need a revision? Much more information is needed such as a full set of facial photographs from all angles, and a copy of the operative report to find out exactly what was accomplished in the first procedure. You appear to have fat deposits in the neck, which are located both above and below the platysma muscle, and a bit of a recessive chin. Consider placement of a chin implant to augment your chin forward for better facial balance and proportions, in addition to better structural support for the soft tissues in your neck. As long as your skin tone is acceptable, a revision neck lift alone should accomplish your goals of removing the fat deposits in the neck, in addition to a platysma plasty to significantly improve your jawline

Answer: Plastic surgery outcome To make an assessment regarding the outcome of a plastic surgery procedure we generally need to see a complete set of proper before and after pictures. Had an absolute minimum we need to know what procedure you had. I’m assuming you had liposuction of your neck and to me the result looks as good as it’s going to get. There is no excess subcutaneous fat That can be removed. Liposuction address is subcutaneous fat only. There are many tissue variables that determine the aesthetics of this part of the body and face. The most important tissue variable is bone structure. It is facial bone structure that determines each unique person, aesthetic appearance, whether desirable or not so much. Other tissue variables include skin with loss of elasticity with age , the plum muscle and Howard drapes, the neck, etc. etc. In the end bone structure is the foundation and determines how the other tissue layers draped the neck. Individuals who have the best looking jawline and neck profiles typically have large mandibles. A substantial foundation gives structure to support the soft tissues. I don’t see any indication for surgical revision or surgical intervention on the information provided. If you want a quality assessment regarding the outcome of a procedure, consider reposting with proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures, then ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took. Best, Matt Hagstrom, MD.
