I am a female, 29, 5’6” and 195lbs. I am considering getting chin liposuction but I am wondering if that will be all I need to look slimmer or if it will help at all.

Answer: Possible chin liposuction When liposuction is done to the chin area, it is done underneath the chin to help with excess fat in the upper neck. It is difficult to evaluate your upper neck with the photos you provided. A picture of your face and neck from the side when you are not smiling would be helpful to determine if liposuction under the chin might help you.

Answer: Removing normal fat Based on your pictures I see no indication for having Liposuction. Liposuction has the potential of leaving people looking worse than they did before unless you are very carefully in selecting providers. Facial fat should not be removed because it contributes to premature aging later in life. Be careful of permanent irreversible contouring procedures that can leave people potentially looking worse. There is significant discrepancy in skill when it comes to Liposuction even among well-trained highly regarded to plastic surgeons. The number of plastic surgeons of truly mastered this procedure is relatively small. There should be a good indication before choosing surgery. I think you look great and see absolutely no reason for you to have Liposuction. Facial aesthetics are primarily determined by bone structure. Soft tissue coverage tends to be very consistent from person to person. Removing fat from a normal fat distribution can create undesirable side effects. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD.
