Pain relief for throbbing/burning/pulsing temples 3 months after face and brow lift.

It is unusual to have such severe pain after a facelift.  You should discuss this with your surgeon as there may be some deep sutures placed in the area of your temple that are causing this.  Removing such sutures could relieve your symptoms.  

I do recommend seeing a neurologist for an assessment.  The range of possibilities far exceeds what can be addressed in this forum.  However, your thinking about your next step is correct.

It is likely that because of the altered anatomy the superficial temporal artery is irritating the auriculotemporal nerve. A nerve block followed with a small surgery under local anesthesia could take care of this. This is extremely rare but can happen. I would be happy to talk with your plastic surgeon and share my thoughts with him/her. 

First of all, I am so sorry that you are still in so much pain. Second, you are doing exactly what I would recommend: seeing a neurologist. Hopefully he or she can get to the bottom of what is going on.

Thanks for your question.  What you are describing is quite unusual, especially because symptoms are bilateral (on both temples).  I would discuss this with your surgeon prior to seeking the opinion of another specialist (like a neurologist), as your surgeon may have a better insight as to what is causing this, such as deep sutures or implants that may be causing the symptoms.  If so, then addressing this (removal) may be a better option than a medication that won't address the underlying issue.  Hope this helps.  Good luck!

Have your surgeon inject some local anesthetic in these areas to see if a superficial injection will help.  Sometimes there can be a trapped nerve in the scar.
