Density after hair transplant. Will these hairs get thicker?

I had a transplant just over 90 days ago and seeing my first new hairs!!!! Very exciting to see and feel. Over time, will these hairs get thicker?

Your grafts will go through cycles and continue to thicken.In addition new grafts will start to emerge through the scalp.It typically takes 10-12 months to see full results from your procedure.You should be looking good by next summer!

Hello,Density is one of the most critical factors after hair transplantation.  Early on you may not be able to fully determine your density.  Density depends on various factors including the number of hairs  per cm squared, the thickness and vibrancy of hair, direction and design of hair.  Techniques for density vary from surgeon to surgeon.  In my office, we utilize a specialized technique that allows for optimizing density and found it to be helpful.  Best, Dr. Anil Shah

It may take 6 to 12 months to see the results of a hair transplant procedure.  Some may start to see hair growth early on but it may not be the final results.

new growth.  Hair will initially start as
fine, thin hair but over the next 4 to 6 months hair will become thicker and
more coarse.  At 12 months, you should

Depending on various factors, the first results of your hair transplant procedure will start to become apparent between the 4th and 8th months following surgery. However, the final result of the procedure is evident at about 12 months after surgery, and this period may be extended up to 18 months in certain cases. How exciting to see the first growth. When the new hair begins to grow it comes in more fine and takes on the characteristics of the donor hair.  All the grafts come in on their own growth cycle.  Typically the most growth occurs between 6-9 months and it takes a full year for the complete result.

Regrowing hair is thin, undersized and not bright untill 4-5 th months of hair transplant. İt's normal for new growing hair starting to get native characteristics, waviness, curl in first 4-5 months..This actually takes 10-13 months for hair to become full mature , as thick and bright  as native hair.

Congratualtions on what will become a Hairy New Year! Yes, the transplanted hairs gradually increase in caliber after they make their first appearance. But don't forget, while that is happening new hairs will start to grow month by month — each follicle is own its own time clock, so they don't all begin growing at the same time. As a rough rule of thumb, you will have about 50% of your final your density at about 6 months.Thanks for your question--hope that helps.Dr. Ballon
