I'm curious to know if there are any weight restrictions right after rhinoplasty? I have two toddlers so wondering if I should wait until they are older for rhinoplasty. Thanks in advance!
Answer: You will need help with your toddlers for the first week after rhinoplasty. Thankfully we have not seen any issues with moms who undergo rhinoplasty, and then take care of their children. I am always more fearful that a child could Hit a mother's nose with their head, however, this has never happened in our experience over 25 years. Wishing you well moving forward with your nose and your kiddies. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Lifting weight after nasal surgery: Lifting weight after nasal surgery: how much weight you can lift after nasal surgery depends on a number of factors. It depends primarily on what type of surgery you had. The restrictions are more lenient for a rhinoplasty than for a septorhinoplasty where the possibility of postoperative bleeding is higher. It also depends on how you lift. The worst way to lift would be to bend forward at the waist and strain as if you were doing a dead lift. Bending at the knees with your head still upright and lifting that weight is much less likely to cause bleeding. I would say that by a week or two after a straightforward rhinoplasty lifting a toddler by bending at the knees and wrapping your arms around him and then straightening up should not cause any significant risk of bleeding in the vast majority of patients. Extend this by a week or so for a Septorhinoplasty. More important is that the child’s head not bang you in the nose, This is a panicked phone call I sometimes get in the first few weeks after a patient with a young child has had nasal surgery.

Answer: Recovery Hello! Yes, there are weight restrictions imposed by most surgeons. I recommend 10 lbs and under for 3-4 weeks. Toddlers need attention so we understand they need to be picked up. Trying to limit the amount you do this, though, can help. Hope this is useful.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Thank you for the question and congratulations on your new family. Following surgical procedures generally, there usually is a weight restriction depending on the type of surgery. For rhinoplasty, functional or aesthetic, or a combination, approximately 4 weeks weight restriction of 5-10 pounds is a length of time that may be stated by your rhinoplasty surgeon depending on the type of rhinoplasty procedure.
