had a septo-rhinoplasty in April 2023, 10M postop soon. I've read that by now 70-90% of swelling has resolved. My doctor told me I had medium thick skin around my tip only. Before surgery my main concern was from front, getting rid of the bulbous/tear drop shape where the bridge of my nose became the tip, I wanted distinction between. Im not seeing much of a diff, will bridge get less wide? I can feel bone when I squeeze until I get to bottom of bridge near tip, then feel slight swelling
Answer: Has Rhinoplasty final goal been met? At 10 months post-op, I believe the photo that you post will be your final result. It looks like you got close to your goal. However, I would have your doctor look to see if some of the fullness could be scar tissue. Often steroid injection can narrow widened tissues caused by scar tissuel.

Answer: You're probably close to final results. What to do now? At 10 months, yes, you're supposed to be done with almost all of the swelling. Certainly, it's rare for *dramatic* changes to happen after 10 months, even in cases of extremely thick nasal skin, and your skin doesn't look *extremely* thick, at least from these photos. What's possible now depends on what the bridge and tip *feel* like. If it *feels* as though there is cartilage just under the skin, positioned widely, then it's more likely that the current position of the cartilage framework under the skin is making the nose look wide, and that's why it didn't narrow, and it also means that further work on those cartilages (in a revision) should allow the nose to narrow more. Perhaps a lot more, depending on where the cartilages are positioned. On the other hand, if the nose feels as though it's all soft tissue and skin, then it's less likely that a revision can make much of a change, unless the problem is excess scar tissue, which could possibly be carved out to help.

Answer: You are certainly close to your final result 10 months after rhinoplasty surgery. That said, we have seen cases where it takes 18 to 24 months to achieve a final result. If you are still feeling firm swelling by the tip of your nose, it means you're not completely healed and it's reasonable to expect a bit more narrowing. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Rhinoplasty Your nose will continue to change sometimes up to three years. From your photos it looks like your nasal bones were adequately narrowed

Answer: Rhinoplasty results At 10 months, you can probably consider your results final. It is unlikely they are going to change much by waiting further. Your picture may have been a little over enthusiastic. Rhinoplasty surgery is fairly complex and typically the outcome is going to be based on a combination of each individual persons candidacy for the procedure in combination with the skill and experience of the provider. Different plastic surgeons have different skill levels for rhinoplasty surgery. I recommend patients be very selective when choosing providers for this procedure seeking providers who have extensive experience with rhinoplasty surgery preferably those who specialize exclusively in rhinoplasty surgery with 20 years +of experience. I suggest you follow up with your provider and discuss your concerns with him or her. Alternatively, you can schedule in person second opinion consultations with other providers in your community. Look for providers who have extensive experience with rhinoplasty surgery. For second opinion, consultations, come prepared to bring with you a complete set of proper before and after pictures. You should also bring a copy of your operative report, so any new surgeon can have a clear understanding of what was done during the first procedure. If you don’t have before, and after pictures and ask your surgeon to forward, the ones they took. You can also request a copy of your operative report. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
