Regarding Thermitight- What if I do not have fat, just loose skin? (Photo)

Thermi is a great minimally invasive method to tighten neck skin.  It doesn't do too as much for neck fat.  A neck/facelift is still the gold standard for neck tightening and has a greater effect than Thermi.  Mild to moderate neck laxity is more responsive to Thermi than severe laxity.  

Thermi, aka ThermiTight, is designed for the surgeon to set the parameters to only tighten connective tissue and produce collagen, or to reduce fat.  Certainly, for those with thin neck skin, the settings are set to avoid fat reduction, and the surgeon constantly monitors the internal temperature, realtime and moves the instrumentation to ensure that the tissue isn't heated in one spot for too long. We often use ThermiTight at my practice to tighten skin without removing fat. It is an effective procedure that may also be combined with other skin tightening procedures to achieve the desired result, like ThermiSmooth, which is another device which uses the ThermiRF system non-invasively to tighten skin without affecting fat. I recommend visiting a board-certified dermatologist with experience performing skin tightening procedures for an in-person consultation to see what treatment is best for you.

The ThermiRF technology is great for tightening skin.  As suggested, the temperature settings definitely determine whether or not skin tightening is going to occur or if fat reduction will be the target.  As for Ultherapy, I have not been impressed with results so far and would not be a huge proponent of this.I hope this helps!

Depending on the temperature settings and depth of treatment the ThermiTight can be used to tighten loose skin or melt fat. If you have no fat, then a lower temperature setting will be used and the treatment done more superficially to tighten the skin only. I think this will work much better than Ultherapy for you. The amount of fat loss during skin tightening with ThermiTight is extremely small because the temperature settings for skin tightening are much lower than for fat reduction. In addition to that the treatment depth is different for skin tightening vs fat reduction. Superficial for skin tightening, deeper for fat reduction. If done correctly, you should not lose any fat.

In general for most cosmetic procedures the rule is: the more intense or invasive the procedure, the more downtime patients will have, the better the results. But not everyone requires the most intense procedure. Patients with mild to moderate laxity are good candidates for ThermiTight and patients with moderate or greater laxity are better candidates for a neck lift. Which procedure would be best for you depends on the amount of laxity and sun damage you have. I suggest evaluation by an experienced board certified physician who can assess your specific needs.
