Is ThermiTight or Smartlipo best for small double chin?

Question

I'm 34, and thin but with a small double chin. I've had consoltations for both Smartlipo and Thermitight and I'm a good canadate for both, but I'm wondering which one will last the longest. My main goal of this would be to prevent the genetic turkey neck that runs in my family.

There are many variations in neck structure. There are variables in the amount of muscle band sagging, loose skin, and fat compartments from patient to patient, and that is why I must analyze each patient that sees me in consultation as an individual and customize a plan to improve their neck. In contrast to what has been incorrectly posted below, Thermi Tight does reduce fat if the physician chooses to do so. Certainly it is designed to also tighten the dermis, but as the internal set temp is elevated for fat reduction, I can reduce considerable fatty necks. Double chins are also treated effectively with the new CoolSculpting Mini as it freezes and kills the fat cells, and Kybella injections can dissolve the fat.  Liposuction, can remove the fat, and laser-assisted liposuction, such as Smart Lipo can help tighten the dermis.Botox injections can help reduce the muscle bands but if there is considerable hanging of muscle bands, nothing can provide as a good a lift as a surgical neck lift.The information provided in Dr. Shelton's

Thank you for your question.If you are looking minimally invasive or non-surgical options, I
 am finding that the combination of Kybella or Coolsculpting Mini to reduce the sub mental 
fullness and an energy device to tighten the skin are among the best 
non-surgical combinations to help your neck concerns.Kybella is an 
injection procedure that dissolves the fat an may require between 2-4 
treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.  There is some swelling and bruising 
potential, with the greatest amount with the first treatment.The 
Coolsculpting mini procedure cools the fatty tissue under the submental 
area and also reduces the fatty tissue under the chin.As far 
as energy devices, I would recommend Ulthera if you are looking for 
something with no downtime, or Profound if you could tolerate some 
downtime.  Ulthera is an ultrasound based energy that heats the 
underlying tissue and stimulates collagen in response.  Profound is a 
radio frequency microneedling device that allows for the creation of 
Elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid and hence restores some of the 
lost elasticity in the neck.  It has more visible downtime with the 
possibility of some swelling and bruising that diminishes in about a 
weeks time.Surgical options are also very rewarding and include 
liposuction or neck lift.  I would recommend visiting with a board 
certified plastic surgeon in your area to help you discuss your options 
in more detail.

I treat this everyday in my practice. You may be a surgical candidate but you do not need surgery for improvement. Properly performed liposuction with energy based devices (sometimes one, sometimes in combination and this is decided in a consultation) and physical fat removal will do fantastic to remove the fat, lift the skin, and contour the jawline. I pretreat everyone with Botox 1-2 weeks before surgery to relax the neck muscles, allowing for better retraction of the skin after surgery. Then after treatment we do skin tightening with Venus Legacy to improve the results and decrease the neck swelling. I suggest you only see an expert for treatment of this area as a meticulous surgeon is required to get great results and complications in this area can be devastating both medically and cosmetically. A new medication that is used to remove chin fat with injections called Kybella may also be an option, as it secondarily allows for skin tightening/lifting as well. If you have a small fat pocket that is contributing to your double chin, then lipo would be the best option for you. ThermiTight only addresses excess skin and not the fat component. At age 34 you probably still have good skin tone and have less a need for skin tightening.
