Will I be able to wear bikini 6 weeks after liposuction on legs, knees, inner and outer thighs? (Photo)

6 weeks after liposuction, the majority of swelling and bruising should be gone, so you should be able to wear a bikini. Although the I have personally had patients in a bikini at the beach as early as 3 weeks after liposuction, be aware that you may still see your admit sites and there may be residual microswelling for up to six months after any liposuction procedure, and your full results will not be visible at 6 weeks post-op. 

All
the cases of liposuction that I have performed, have been able to go to the sea
and wear bikini, 4 weeks after the liposuction. Especially since I use Slim Lipo
laser for lipolysis I see a faster recovery.
Obviously
you will not have the final result in 6 weeks. For having it you must wait a few
months.
In
6 weeks you expect to have a better body shape than what you have now. If I was in your
"shoes" I wouldn’t change my Dubai plans.

Planning liposuction timing can be difficult if a vacation is upcoming.  Generally, the longer the time after surgery for swelling and skin contracting to occur the better.  In six weeks, the bruising and outward signs that liposuction has been performed won't likely be visible; however, results will still not be complete, and there may be some areas of swelling present.

My patient do wear bikinis 6 weeks after lipo, but everyone is unique in their recovery period so you might need to wait longer depending upon how fast your swelling resolves.

In 6 weeks you should be presentable and able to wear a bikini without embarrassment of excessive bruising or swelling. However, you should be aware that it takes several months, sometimes 4 or more, before the swelling will completely resolve to get you your final result. I liken it to the skin shrink-wrapping around the underlying tissues after liposuction. But, it should be safe, and not too noticeable, after 6 weeks. Discuss this further with your plastic surgeon. I would expect most if not all  of the noticeable bruising and swelling to be gone at 6 weeks.  You will not be able to appreciate the full correction of your procedure at that point I would expect you to continue to see subtle  changes for up to 12 months post op. Everyone heals a little differently so it's impossible to make any guarantees.    Good Luck!

Thank you for your question and photograph.  It would be fine to wear your bikini 6 weeks after liposuction assuming you do not have any wound healing difficulties.  Please be aware that bruising may persist for up to three weeks after treatment, while you will likely have some degree of swelling still present.  Your final results may not be seen for up to 6-12 months after surgery.  Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question.  With liposuction you can be bruised for a couple of weeks and be a little swollen for several months.  I recommend wearing your compression garment as prescribed and following all of your doctors instructions.  I also highly recommend lymphatic massages to help get rid of the fluid and help you heal faster.  You should look great at 6 weeks out, but may still see improvement up to 6 months or a year out.  Good Luck with your surgery.

Dear Anon, Thank you for posting a question with your question. Usually after 4 weeks, most patients are ready for the beach. Of course some additional swelling and healing will occur after 6 weeks, but by then you can pass the bikini test. Remember to follow your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon's post operative instructions and wear the recommended post operative garment to minimize the swelling and bruising. During the early post operative period, your skin will be more sensitive than normal to sunlight and you should wear sun block SPF 30 to avoid post operative hyperpigmentation of your skin. To answer your question as to whether you can wear a bikini six weeks after a liposuction of your thighs and knees, the answer is yes. The bruising should be gone by then, and even though all of the swelling will not have diminished completely in six weeks, you should be smaller than you are now.Be sure to stay off of anything they can make you bruise more such as aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, Advil, fish oil, flax seed oil, garlic, and vitamin E. Also where your compression garment for at least three weeks continuously except when showering. I would also limit anything that makes you increase your body heat such as exercising, as this can make you swell. Personally, I prefer the tickle Lipo, as it is a little more gentle to the tissues.
