How long after Radiesse should I wait to inject Sculptra at the same site?

I had a Radiesse treatment done Sept 2016 and the results have started to fade at this point. I was seeking to replace with Sculptra because of it's longer lasting results that are more gradual and natural looking. Should I wait to inject at around Sept this year or can I do it sooner? Are there interactions I should know about?

As the panel members chimed in, having both products together does not pose any problems.  In fact, the combination of using more than one injection product usually has a synergistic effect that compliments the end treatment goal.  There are limitations vs. benefits with each product, but for volume, shaping, lifting, on contouring, these two products work well together.  Having both products injected at the same time is not recommended due to swelling which will influence what the injector is observing.  Other than a short waiting period in between visits, there is no problem.

I think it would be fine for you to have Sculptra injected at any point now into the same area you had Radiesse in September of 2016.  There is no interaction, but some of the effect you have from the Radiesse will begin to fade while the Sculptra gradually fills it.

You are definitely correct in that Sculptra is longer lasting and more gradual. Sculptra is best injected into smile lines, hollows of cheeks and sometimes temples. There are no interactions between Sculptra and Radiesse so if you are noticing a lack of volume in the area where you previously had Radiesse injected, it would be ok to proceed with Sculptra. I recommend consulting with a board-certified dermatologist who has a lot of experience injecting Sculptra, to be sure that Sculptra is the right product for you.

There shouldn't be any problems injecting Sculptra after Radiesse.  There is no interaction between the two.  Sculptra is a great filler for the right candidate.  It provides gradual collagen stimulation and natural-appearing results.  I have found that injecting Sculptra with a cannula in most facial areas greatly reduces the likelihood of bruising.   Regards,Dr. Ort

Both Radiesse and Sculptra are collagen stimulators, though they work in different ways to recontour the face. I generally advise my patients to wait 6 months before the two treatments, though in specific situations, that recommendation varies. For example, if Radiesse and Sculptra were being used in different areas of the face, the time between treatments may shorten. I would set up an appointment with your cosmetic dermatologist to discuss this. Best to you in your injectable treatments.
