Extreme bruises from Breast Augmentation, is this a hematoma? (photos)

Gravity tends to pull bruises to lower areas. In order to rule out a hematoma, It would be a good idea to be seen in person. Your Plastic Surgeon should be able to recommend someone qualified to see you and have a plan for your follow up care.All the best  

Thank you for your question and photos. Based on your photos provided, there is obvious signs of bruising. This is normal after surgery. If severe bruising continues to worse I would advise you to follow up with your surgeon, he or she will rule out a hematoma after an examination of that is what you have.

As long as the affected area feels soft, it may just be bruising. It is important however, that you should communicate with your surgeon and be examined. Best.

Hi and thanks for the question and photos. This is a relatively concerning amount of bruising after surgery and you are right to question hematoma. Are your breasts continue to enlarge? Is one larger than the other. Is your pain getting worse. Make sure that you discuss this with your ps and make arrangements to be seen in person possibly by a local ps if you are not able to get back to yours quickly. Best of Luck - Dr. Hardy...

This looks more bruised than normal.  It could be a hematoma, especially if that breast is significantly larger than the other.  You can always send photos to your surgeon in Florida.  If you have an urgent need or would like someone local to look at it, I'd be happy to see you.

Without an exam, I can not say. This is part of the problem of not having surgery close to your home. You now have to see a plastic surgeon who did not treat you. Hopefully, someone in you area will see you.

Please contact your surgeon to discuss the bruising.  It is important that they examine you to decide if the bruising needs surgical intervention.

Signs of hematoma after breast augmentation include increased size, pain and bruising.  What you have going on could still simply be a subcutaneous bleed that will resolve on its own rather than a large amount of blood that has built up in the implant space.  I would follow up with your surgeon at least initially via telemedicine.  This is honesty one of the disadvantages of medical tourism.    

Sorry you were having trouble. It is important that you contact your surgeon immediately and have them provide you with further instructions and who should evaluate you. Hopefully this is just superficial and will not cause long-term issues. Again it will be very important for you to contact your sergeant to seek formal guidance from the provider who did your surgery. He may recommend different types of massages or different medicines for the future to make sure you have a soft result.
