I am getting a BA and I am currently a very small A cup. My PS recommends Galaflex mesh to all his patients because it reduces the risk of lateral displacement. My cc is 300-350 range. Good skin quality. I have seen couple of other PS and they never mentioned mesh. What do you all think? Is it worth it and will it also help with decreasing the gap between breasts? Cost is not an issue.
Answer: Primary Breast Augmentation with mesh Thank you for your question. A large portion of my practice is dedicated to breast surgery and revision breast surgery. In a primary breast augmentation. mesh adds expense, another foreign material, and probably won't help prevent lateral malposition. I would go somewhere else. Best wishes to you.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Galaflex can support implant position The Galaflex scaffold can be a great addition to implant or breast lift surgeries but is not always necessary. In younger small-breasted patients with good skin quality who have not had previous implants, Galaflex can prevent lateral displacement if the implant is placed under the muscle or help support implants against gravity if the implant is placed above the muscle. Placing implants above the muscle may be desirable if you have enough tissue coverage and want to minimize the gap between your breasts or avoid implant movement with chest muscle flexion (animation deformity). Make sure to consult a plastic surgeon who can educate you about the different choices concerning implant type/size, implant position, and pros/cons of add-ons such as the Galaflex mesh. Best, Dr. Zamani

Answer: Galaflex internal bra not always necessary There are several things that contribute to lateral displacement of breast implants, especially when they are under muscle and relatively large. I use a lot of Galaflex mesh as an internal bra but do not usually recommend it for primary augmentations.

Answer: Mesh in primary breast augmentation Routine use of mesh in primary breast augmentation would be irregular unless perhaps one was doing a subglandular placement (rather then partially under the muscle). It would normally be reserved for patients with very poor tissue quality, combined mastopexy-augmentation, or revision breast surgery. With a moderate sized implant as you describe I can’t imagine it as to be necessary in this context
