My nose was wide and I had an alar base reduction in topical anasthesia. My nose is really, really swollen and huge and Im wondering how come? The doctor didn't broke any bones and so on so why is it that swollen?

Answer: Post alar reduction swelling Swelling after any facial procedure is very normal. The face, and especially the nose, is a very vascular structure with TONS of tiny blood vessels. Hence...swelling. Consider, head elevation, cold packs, arnica....BUT, check with your surgeon FIRST

Answer: Rhinoplasty The swelling is common. Keep your head elevated and it will resolve. Sleep with your head elevated. You did not mention how long it has been since you had the procedure. Be sure you don't have a fever. Speak to your surgeon.All the best,Talmage Raine MD
