Hi I got juvederm fillers in lips on Thursday, it's now Saturday. I am scared that this have been over filled and the bottom has not had enough in .... Very puffy and not defined at all. Very duck looking. So unhappy and unsure what to do. Is this normal . . Should I see a DR? Thanks Lucy
Answer: Lip Swelling After Fillers Such as Juvederm or Restylane -- Reverse With Hyaluronidase If you are unhappy you can reverse the filler, I would wait 2 weeks to decide if this is the best choice for you. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Upper lip is likely overfilled. Thank you for the photo. It has only been two days since your injections, so there’s still some swelling that will need to dissipate before you can determine the actual results. However, based on the photo I suspect that the proper proportions were not met with this treatment, and the top lip is larger than it should be in comparison to the bottom. Wait a few more days for the swelling to go down, and then visit your plastic surgeon to determine a course of action if you’re still not satisfied. You could have the filler dissolved to return your lips to their normal size, or you could potentially add filler to the bottom lip to create a better balance. A great deal of finesse and an artistic eye are required to achieve nice results with fillers, so make sure you’re visiting a plastic surgeon who’s highly experienced using dermal fillers.

Answer: Swelling after filler Hello, and thanks for your question. I'm sorry you did not get the result you had hoped for. Post-filler swelling can take 1-2 weeks to fully subside, so it may be early to assess your final result. If you are not pleased with your final result, the product can be dissolved with injection of an enzyme called hyaluronidase. To maximize the likelihood of a favorable outcome, I recommend that you only get treated by a well-trained and experienced dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Hope this opinion is helpful to you. Best of luck, Dr. Frucht.

Answer: Overfilled lips Dear Lucy,Thank you for writing in. I would wait for 1-2 weeks for the swelling to subside and then go for re-evaluation. The upper lips should be 1/3 and the lower lip should be 2/3 total volume. My hunch is that you will need Hylenex to dissolve some of the filler to get the correct ratio and take away the "duck" look. You have very pretty lips- my approach would be to put in much less filler-I'm guessing you had a full syringe or more. Maybe start with a 1/2 syringe next time.Best of luck!Dr. R.

Answer: #DuckLips? Dear lucy0411:In your photos, your upper lip appears to be overfilled. To minimize your downtime, rather than waiting for two weeks I believe your physician will want to inject some hyaluronidase now in the upper lip to dissolve some, but not all of the filler. The reduction in size will be apparent almost immediately. In my experience, patients do not have to go through this kind of swelling, where one would not want to go to work or socialize for many days to two weeks, when having lip fillers. Using fillers that swell less, such as Juvederm Ultra or Belotero, and minimizing trauma during the injections, as well as using smaller volumes with the understanding there is a possibility of adding more later, generally allow the patient to be back to their normal schedule quickly if not the same day. All the the best to you,Dr. Clark
